General New owner of 100BHP Panda

Yesterday I picked up a 100BHP Panda from my local dealer for an excellent price, I'm very happy with it's performance & handling, but when the car goes over a bumpy road there is a hard clunk / sounds like the boot is loose noise / rear suspension is loose. Any idea's.?

Is this a common problem with the model..?

I may use some Dynamat (sound deadening material) around the boot area to stop any vibration etc.

I've bought an induction kit which I will fit, Dynamat the doors, add a pair of mudflaps & will change the Headunit soon.

Shouldn’t be any noise like that, I certainly never had a problem with my old 100HP.
Check the spare tyre well to see if there’s anything loose in there, otherwise I’d get the dealer to check it out.

Rear seat belts sometimes clunk about if not strapped away in their retainers.

So check this out before returning to dealer.
I had the same problem when I first bought my 100 HP .

Good choice of car.

Check the rear seat back is locked in tight as they can rattle/clunk at times.

I've removed the spare tyre and its tools.

I have to go back to the dealer this week to have the mudflaps fitted & will ask them to check the car out. Got a years warranty so no worries if anything needs to be replaced.

My nearside half of the rear seat back clunks even though the seat back is correctly locked in position. It's like the metal seat back is at odds with the seat innards, I've tried wedging something between the two seat backs to dampen it a bit, its not perfect but helps a bit.

Back end thunks and clunks like mad in mine. I ain't checked it though, and it doesn't help that there is half a ton of crap in the boot either.

What year is the car? Many miles on it?

My car has recently suffered from a knocking sound at the rear and it was a failed rear damper bush [as suggested by randysbits above]:



That was after 81k miles, although some cars have suffered at an earlier mileage.

Stage 1:

K&N Intake Kit

No need to change the exhaust as this gives a deep "growl" which gets louder the higher the rev's.

Within the next month or so i'll soundproof the car & add a few other things.

Bet it sounds great

Its not doing anything for performance being directly above that piping hot manifold

I don't want anymore performance (as its fast enough for me) just add a touch more noise when the pedal goes down.

Only if there is a direct link back to the modification in question.

The K&N is miles away from the manifold so the heat should not affect it, i'm not looking to improve the performance as the car is fast enough standard.

Adding a few layers of sound-deadening material to the doors n boot in a few weeks time.

They are for standard pandas, can't see them fitting a 100HP with the bodykit thats fitted. The black plastic around the wheel arch already has a kind of built in mudflap, have a look and you will see what i mean.

No i dont think they will, and if they did they would look pretty crap. In my opinion its only worth having front flaps anyway, as these keep the crap off the side of your car, not that these will fit a 100hp either.
