Hi all,

After the saga of the Multipla JTD that just didn't want to be fixed I finally got the family back on the road by buying another, identical Multipla (except it's red)

It's got it's share of dints but is generally in good shape with lots of receipts and history. It drives great and the engine starts, unlike the old one.

Anyway, the central locking unlocks on the key button but doesn't lock and has to be done manually. The alarm still works normally.

Any ideas on what the problem can be? I have a complete Multipla I can raid for parts!

If you typed "masochist" into Google images, your photo would come up first!!

Well, Fiat's are fun!

Can anybody help with this central locking issue? I may just pull the fuse and have done with it.

Just a thought - have you checked that all of the legs on the key microswitch are still soldered to the PCB? Also, have you tried changing the key battery an cleaning the contacts?

New multipla

Spooky!
I too went from a Blue one to the Red one :p

Mine doesn't have a, how shall I put it, 'unfortunate' registration though . . .

Yeah, I've checked the keys and replaced the battery. It unlocks fine and the alarm can be turned on and off, it just won't lock again by pressing the button in the key.

I mentioned the reg to the missus as we drive up to collect it, she wasn't very pleased but by then it was too late. If you squint it kinda says YOU A VAJ or something.

I am breaking the blue one for spares. I've already pinched a few bits. The new MAF cured a slight smoke issue and boosted the power a bit. I;ve also swapped a couple of lights over at the front. It's very useful to have a donor about!

If you need any bits give me a shout. I think I may start a new thread. The rear axle is good, so i'm sure someone could use that.

I'm in Stoke on Trent, Staffordshire.

Hi are injectors for sale if so what number is on top of them ? Should be 0445110 followed with 3 more numbers

I've got a big pile of injectors, as the initial problem was injector related and I acquired a couple of sets for spares. I'll find the numbers out tomorrow.

Make an offer on them if you like?

Hi,

Ive sent a PM to you, but the injectors I have are numbered 002 and 119. I've had them all working in my Multipla though, what to the different numbers mean?

Hi.
Did you sort out the locking problem. Our Multipig locks with the key then immediately unlocks, it will lock manually so squirted WD all over the locks and opening bits. wondered if you had found a cure. Also as ours is the same lovely Blue as you are breaking I need a rear n/side passenger door :) Wondered if this was something you may sell or swap with a bit of cash for our slightly scraped one?

Hi

When you say that it locks, and then immediately unlocks, does it do the 2 short beeps as though you've unlocked the car?

Just a thought as mine does it every so often, and its always the passenger front door that needs opening and reclosing. Then it's fine for months.

It might be worth looking at the door sensors, but I don't know where they are, they will either be in the lock, or near the hinge. Some of the more enlightened may be able to advise.

Not much of a help, more a point in the right direction!

Cheers

James

No, Inever did get to the bottom of it, but the interior lights dont come on with the passenger doors so that may be connected. No idea where the door sensors are!

If your Multi locks and then unlocks itself it usually means a door is still open somewhere.

Unfortunately I weighed in the Multipla for scrap last week. The doors won't be door shaped anymore! I would have loved to have saved more parts from it for other Multiplas but the Wife wanted the drive back!
