And I would guess there would be cheaper variants/specs than this special launch edition too.

The Mini has more power but a smaller battery pack.

The thing is the mini has always been a more “premium” car compared to the 500. While the mini has always been about £25k in the mid range the 500 has never cost that much and £32k puts it well above the price of a lot of other cars outside the scope of the fiat 500.

All the vauxhall Peugeot models are going to be cheaper than this, as will the mini, the new VWs id3 range of cars and things like the VWs e-Up the mii and the new electric Honda. £32k for a car in this sector is very expensive.

I would pay another £5k.. to avoid being in a Vauxhall 'Adrian' even with an 'E' on the end

32k is for one of the 500 limited edition cabrio specs. I'd agree 27k is also too much but then the mini electric has a smaller battery and range, the honda-e has a smaller battery and range (but starts at 27k)... I know Fiat want the 500 to go a bit more upmarket, but they ALL need to come down in price. And I'm sure they will. Eventually! Still good to see a battery this size in this class, though.

I slagged off the Mini's looks in an earlier post, but I was amazed to learn that the 500e will start at £4.5k more than the Mini e. It looks nice, but you will have to really want one to pay that money, even though the range is better than the Mini's. And if range matters, the new 50kWh Zoe is £9k cheaper than the 500.
