Hi, I want to by Brava and I have a few offers with engine 1.2 and engine 1.6.
Is there big difference between them? I want to use it as regular driver, without racing or big speed or something like that, just for my work.

Is engine 1.2 ok for that?

Thank you and greetings from Bosna and Herzegovina.

Yes, the 1.2 is just fine for that, and it will also be a bit cheaper on fuel :)

Hi there i had a Brava 1.2sx for years and it was a fantastic car, decent about town and with a little ooomph when needed. Is fine cursing along at 70mph and is quite decent on the petrol consumption. I normally got close to 400miles to a tank 50liters and on long trip to France and Italy got close to 500miles (on super unleaded).

Cheap to maintain and comfortable!

I now have an HGT Bravo, not cheap to maintain.. hehe. Have never driven the 1.6 but sure its a decent engine with alot more power than the 1.2, but if you dont need it then get the 1.2.

Post specs of the car with prices and pics if you want. Prices converted to pounds please as dont know what a BAM is worth!

1.2 engine is very good - has good power when compared with other manufacturers 1.2 engines some of which have more than 20bhp less than the bravo/as. Also have found it is more powerful than the Peugeot 206 1.4 engine and the Vauxhall/Opel Astra 1.6 8v engine and it is very economical. I get between 400 - 500 miles per tank depending on amount of motorway driving. As to be expected from a smaller engine it does lack that bit of power when overtaking uphill on the motorway but its not bad at all. Can easily do 80+ if you need to.

There's a huge power difference between the 1.6 and the 1.2.

I've owned a 1.6 Bravo and I really enjoyed the motor, it's just a pity that the rest of it was crap. I've had a 1.2 as a loan car and I thought it was rather laboured to pull the car around. Good on gasoline mind you.

The 1.6's have poor injectors and I've know a few people having to spend quite a bit of money and effort getting them put right or replaced.

1.2's seem quite popular, but too laborious for my liking.

Ok, as soon as i complete all info i will post it here, but as i can read 1.2 i good engine for usualy needs...

Can you send me a link (or something like that) with catalogue specification of 1.6 16V Brava engine? I want o see how much that engine use fuel per 100km in original catalogue specification?

Thank you

Ok, would be better if you are getting 1.6 go for the version from year 1999 - you will see a badge on the car "100 16v".

Fuel Economy: Combined 37.2 MPG which is about 7,6 litres per 100 km. And in city about 11 litres :(

Hi...
Today I will by my Brava, and yesrday a saw him, and it's is beatiful...
But, it have one red key and one blue key so is it a problem?
In the book there is some code for key and there isn't card for radio (but it is not a problem, i know some people and they can change my code if i need it).
Is it a problem with key because there is only one blue key?

thank you

One blue key is OK, if you have the red one. Using the red one you can reprograme up to 8 blue keys.

So a red, blue key and the code card are OK.
