What - the Multiair!? That's horrendous, and if true of the new engine, a very good reason to go Diesel. If, however, the Multiar can deliver in the high 40s, plus, when driven 'as intended', then it would be the one to go for.

Interesting. I will wait to read the road tests of the new engines as they come through.

There is already a FIAT 500 tractor

Yes - but this one is the 50s Fiat 500 - no comparrison to the current Fiat 500 tractor :D

the multi air isnt in the abarth yet- this is the current 't jet' unit they are referring to- the multi air promises to be much more efficient in a similar state of tune-

however it is not mooted for the 500 yet- instead the 'twinair' will begin to replace engines lower down the range...this DOES promise to be much more efficient...

tho i would love to see how a powerful diesel works in the 500, the 2400 premium over 1.2 is enormous when the base car is less than 10k!...nearly 30%!!!!
i think fiat are missing a trick by not keeping the MJ-75bhp on the list-
if you want a diesel pop, as maxi said it was fairly reasonable at the same price as the 1.4-
now it will be well over 11k!!!-
its a strange marketing decision, as this will almost be a 'hot' diesel, not to offer something less powerful, esp when that engine is so well regarded-

(tho the MJ 75 is available in the by diesel edition...)

still want one tho, just not wanting to pay for one!

Mention of the Corsa 95 reminds me that (I think) it comes in under 100gm/km. 98 I think. The Fiat MultijetII is 104! Why?

Scrogg says 'no consistency', which is also my feeling with the current crop of engines, which have different specs all over the ranges, and various states of development as well. Hopelessly confusing in fact.
