Im getting at gt conversion done in the next month, but I just need to know... as the gt engine has a different ecu, will the keys I have now start the engine up? Or do I have to get the keys with the donor car and change all the locks on my car? So I just need to know what my options are really, as I have no clue at this point!?

The keys you have now i wouldint think will start it unless you decode the ecu your gettin with the other engine yes you will have to get the keys and locks also replace ignition barrel possibly..?

how much is tht going to set you back, i want to do that to my punto because i have got almost everything off gt's except the engine.
how do you get insured on it tho?

make sure you make a guide to the stuff you do in the guides section
 
Ive just sourced the engine today pushing 200 bhp, now got to find out insurance and fitting! Damn I know its going to be alot of wonga (n)
Yeah Ill try and do a guide. But heres what the bloke has said about the engine Im getting...

ENGINE IS COMPLETE THESE ARE PICTURES OF WHEN I STARTED THE PROJECT A COUPLE OF YRS AGO The block was re-bored with new pistons and rings, i then took the pistons to a well known tuning firm witch they then mechined a BIG DISH (pictured)^ wat was calculated for the correct compression ratio to run up to 22psi big amounts of power n talk!

The cylinder head was modified with slight porting and polishing and double valve springs, bronze valve guides and a skim to match compression ratio of the pistions!

A brand new hybrid turbo was fitted (turbo technics stage 1 hybrid) i went for this one cos bigger turbos are very laggy and this beaut spools up at 1500 rpm! no lag mint for fast road use! STILL HAS 10 MONTHS WARRENTY! still have invoce/reciet for sale!

It has a kent cam but im unsure witch one as i had this fitted buy a friend!

Saw that engine on ebay, he thinks its 200bhp but doesnt really know the spec, also in the pictures its running a standard intercooler, 200 bhp on standard intercooler i dont think so...

And yes you can keep using your orignal keys.

Can you give a little more information on how he can still use orginal keys with a diffrent ecu please...? Does the ecu learn the code from the orginal key or some thing..?
 
different ecu = different keys, or at least, you have to chip the key apart, and keep your old black box and chip from old key.

basically take key from gt, with chip in it.
take your key blade from your car, and get them glued together, then take it to a key cutting place to get copied onto a fresh one (or two or three), then the made up key will work with your new ecu etc, but old black box, I think.

its all a bit complicated and I myself am having problems with all three keys, sometimes code light just stays on and it refuses to start.
yes I've check the code aerial etc.
looks like I'm gonna have to find another 75 to pilage or go back down to a 60:(
 
easy way to do it, take the little glass code chip from the GT's red key, and the code box. stick the red key code chip into your red key (removing your old one). fit the code box to your car. then use the red key with the new chip to teach the code box your existing blue key codes. (y)

if you dont know the code teaching procedure, just search the forum, i've posted it more than once in recent times.
