Is there a favoured hotel so I can book a room for this event?

Yep. (y)

Oh, sorry, you wanted to know which one? :p

We are staying at the Hockley Heath Premier Inn (where you visited in November). Make sure you get the one at Stratford Road, Hockley Heath as people have managed to book into a different one in the past!

We won't be having breakfast there (mainly due to timing issues), so just book the room is my advice. :)

Just bumping this up a little.

I think it's all systems go for this show. As you'll have seen on Panto!'s thread, rapid progress is being made.

I have all the tickets, and there are spares still. Please let me know if you're interested - you don't need to do much in return & will have the opportunity to help strip a pink Panda - now that's something you don't often get! (y)

I am now available to help set up on Friday if required (y)

Hi Bob,

Well there aren't many of us on Friday, so some polishing help would be fantastic! (y)

I think there are only me Vernon & Barbara so if the cars get soaked it's going to take a while!

Fortunately the red 4x4 is a "barn find" so that can sort itself out (unless it washes itself clean - in which case you can smear some mud on it!! :D ).

Pinky won't need too much as he's being restored, so faded paint is acceptable (mud isn't).

Freddie the 127 is fairly easy to clean & polish, so that will be my task. ;)

Panto! will be a complete nightmare if he's got dirty. A black & white car with all the shiny bits needing to go shiny again, isn't going to be a 10 minute job......... :bang:

Then there are essential coffee runs to be carried out in a safe manner - I didn't include those on the risk assessment. :)

Tbh I have so far got away without doing a big risk assessment, and long may it last!! I was asked for one, then pointed out it was at odds with the online user manual & they went away to check and refer back to me........

If anyone saw the Nigel Farage documentary last week (which I found highly amusing), his method of doing it (or not doing it in this case) then apologising if you get caught is my method exactly - it works particularly well with big organisations tied up in red tape (councils, HMRC, the NEC) I've found over many years of extensive stress testing.

I would have thought having you lot there at all requires a risk assessment :D :p

Gavin could do with speaking to you at some point about tickets etc also, I guess we will have to meet up with you somewhere first thing Saturday as we have only booked Saturday night at the Premier Inn. Would have come on Friday but I am pretty busy and its hard to prise my Dad away from work!

I will get in touch with you later in the week to sort it out.

Hi Freddy,

Yes no problem. There are 3 options:

1. Leave the tickets for you at the Premier Inn - this works well if you're coming in from that direction on Sat?

2. We can bring the tickets out to you when you arrive Sat (don't pay for parking though as we have tickets for that too). This involves you phoning and us hearing the phone!

3. I could post everything to you, but this is my least favourite option! I don't trust the PO as far as I can throw it, and we can't get replacements if they go astray or are eaten by a passing Alpaca in the sorting office!! (n)

I wondered if you'd make it to the Donington meet - homeward has his assuming they didn't blow away (it was a bit windy!).

Yes, would have made things abit easier if I'd made it:eek:, the weather put me off really, I can't face to take the Mk1 out in the wet! Ofcourse waking up in time would have helped aswell:bang:

I think option two is best, what time are you arriving at the NEC on Sat? We can be there before the show opens if that makes it easier for someone to come and find us?

The show opens at 9.30am. I'm guessing we'll aim to be there by 8.30 (or a bit before if we've got to find food - already planning for breakfast!).

To be honest it doesn't make too much difference when you get there. We can meet you at the entrance to hall 1 when you arrive (you might need to take the parking ticket back to the car, but don't usually need it until you leave if it's the same as the classic show). (y)

There's currently a transporter crisis going on behind the scenes :bang: It may well look seamless on the day in which case you'll know better, or there may be no Panda's on the stand...............

Anybody got a 3 car transporter available in case we can't fix it? You never know, I found one, so there might be another........... :(

Well the transporter's supposed to be ready this evening. Vernon's having to drive up again & won't get back home until late - should be back just in time to get up & start loading in the morning!

Bob scout has kindly offered to go down if need be in the morning :worship:

Will we have any cars up there, will we have the right cars up there, will Vernon have a nervous breakdown, and is it all a (bad) dream???!! (y)

Good luck to you all with this. Am out, this evening, and tomorrow evening -- but can always supply a pristine barn-find, in the shape of Betty, if I wander around to the farm, next door. I'm sure Fred (who's babysitting her...) won't mind...!

See you early Saturday morning; but yell (text is best), if you get stuck -- as I'm less than an hour from the NEC. (y)
