The exhaust silencer is also a good idea, even though its only 3 months old, halfrauds fitted one to a mates bmw mini charged him full wack and fitted a cheapo. It went back 4 times with clunking coming from the rear silencer. In the end they fitted a genuine one after threatening to take them to trading standards

Yes, giving the silencer a bash is first port of call soon as I can get out and under...(y)

I've had this car from new (15 years W reg 65K miles).
It was very quiet for a long time...I would say the onset of rear bushes noise started about 6/7 years back.
Slowly got more rumble and clatter. Changing the shocks and bushes at the rear has cured that. In fact, I went to collect somebody from town and
had a short drive on some cobblestone surface. The car purred over that .....
Hit a grate hole though and clunk!

Whilst doing pre MOT checks, I re visited this clunk and I'm embarressed to say,
it was the back door clunking

Unscewed the two rubber bumpers on the door a couple of turns and clunk has gone:D

im hoping that is the clonky sound with mine is the bootlid as all the suspension components are new, or have new bushes. the exhaust is also new and it still lumps about at the back :(
