Stilo My Stilo :)

Stilo My Stilo :)

Oh yes, forgot to mention, had my first warning light come on last night!!

I had an intermitent AIRBAG FAILURE light come on. Great! But I don't think it is that serious. It seems to have something to do with that hidden glovebox area - the right hand bracket is slightly loose or broken, and when I had a quick fiddle with it, the light went off and has now remained off. Obviously I don't want to open this box again until FIAT have had a look at it.

I am transferring the third year dealer warranty on Saturday. My dealer has been pretty good on this type of item on the Ulysse, so hopefully they may be able to fix it.

On another issue, I may now be tempted to run an MP3 player instead of the CD-changer. I know a few of you have gone down that road with an FM modulator, Jetweed if I recall. Any pics at all? How much of a pain is it to pull out the Nav+ unit, and what about mounting bracket for player, or do I just shove this to one side.

Also, another question - I don't seem to have a manual for Nav+ [not too concerned, pretty much understand most of it, although a list of voice commands would be useful] - BUT how do I know what version it is on? I have looked everywhere.

Cheers

Stu

i would have to go and look to confirm this but im sure that when the blue logo comes up , mine has 9.8 in the bottom right corner. this should be the latest version. there was a thread on the forum a while back about how to upgrade this. as for the voice commands, i gave up trying, it doesent understand a word i say. could be because im a jock.

Well, I use the voice commands on the Ulysse, and they work a treat. One command is 'What Can I say', and this then lists the voice-command tree, very useful.

I will look at 5pm on the screen to get version number, hopefully 9.8 as you said. I did read that thread a few days ago, some stilo french site, etc.

You'll get a toy next time maybe then! LOL

Eh, is the FM modulation thing that you "tune into" a signal to play it through your original stero? I originally heard of this idea when it was being used on CD players but it didn't get a good write up. Maybe they have come on a bit since then?

K&N could be a complicated bugger now I think of it, ask if any owners on here are local to you and you could save some kudos.

My 57i kit cost about £160 including the kit and fitting at an excellent local garage/workshop that prepares race spec cars of many makes...Unless you really really know what you're doing mechanically I would not fit a 57i kit on your own. Especially as on the Stilo it sits well down in the engine bay.

Stu, check your PM's for more details...

Right, pics now up in my Gallery here, and below.

Also, version number is only 8.3, looks like I have got to do a software upgrade! Managed to sort out the zip file from that Stilo-Club site, BUT I haven't got the setup disk to put it back into English - aargh!!! Me thinks I will talk to the local FIAT dealership on Saturday, maybe buy one along with the Code Card.

Cheers for the K&N advice as well, although now have a better option up my sleeve ;)

I'll 2nd what Steve said cos first viewing of the pics I thought WTF! Wip off the Abarth Badges and put 1.6 on the rear!

As for the pad, you could hold a Fiat Meet in there! Stuart Hall!

Thanks guys!

TBH, I did originally want a 3-door, but now I got a 5-door the practicality issues are there; we won't always want to go out on the Ulysse, and getting two kiddy seats in the back so much easier. Plus the laydees can just step right into the back seat :p

I do like the fact the car is not 'in yer face'; it is what is under the bonnet that counts, tied in with a remap and possibly a BMC Carbon Dynamic Airbox :D - just don't tell Jules ;) - PLUS so so many buttons to play with.

Oh yes, the driveway - lol. Not bad, ay. It looks like those real ickle stones, but these are slightly larger, so don't tend to get stuck. You should see the back garden :) So, FF BBQ all sorted for some time then?

Stuart

The voice commands are pretty simple - press the button for the voice control, say "cd player", the car will beep at you, say t"track", the car beeps again, say "four", this time the car beeps twice in a lower tone than before, then the stereo should switch to cd and start playing track 4!! assuming there is a cd in there!

I've got the manual in work with me, if there's any others you want just let me know

Cheers

you live there!, i thought it was a hotel. is that the east or west wing we can see(he says cap in hand). im gonna go back and try my voice commands in a brummie accent. it really doesent like jocks. while i am here, there is a set of new 17" claws on ebay just now. the guy says rrp £520 without tyres, is that correct. i may be interested if i could pick them up for about £300, bearing in mind that tyres are gonna cost about the same.

Lol at hotel - now there is an idea! Tbh, the house itself isn't that massive [4 beds, family room, lounge, dining room, kitchen, breakfast room], but it is set in about .41 of an acre :)

I am going to keep my 16s on for the moment. I have heard some bad reports about tyre wear, so will take a view later.

Now got used to Selespeed - tend to keep it in Manual mode now, with ASR switched off as well sometimes.
