Heavy, old, needs complete suspension custom made on the front for the extra weight, will have massive negative effects on the handling of the car. Newer, lighter, more tuneable engines out that are alot lot better than a coupe engine.

I think its old and past it with much better stuff out there for engine swaps. dropping a 20vt in is gonna take the same amount of work as dropping in something from a different car as everything is gonna have to be custom made anyway.

yes your right.. i know.

but you shouldn't just write off something cause theres new stuff out there. I'm a bit biased, i like old skool engineering, i don't understand all this fancy electronic stuff properly and much prefer playing with claasic mini's and beetles and stuff like that. But people continually messing with a design and perfecting it brings about as much advance in technology as people like VAG who make a new engine everytime you read something about them.

I would get more of a kick knowing my engine was running just so than stick something in that would do the same job but could be better, if that makes sense

Thats not true every physical part you need would be off the shelf from Fiat, electrics would be the dificult part, especialy with the CAN bus. There is a Stilo 2.4 Abarth and that uses the same block as the 20vt. So engine mounts, drive shafts, gear box, and all the stuff will be off the shelf on the 20vt.

An engine from a different car, say a Renault Clio 1.0 would need all custom stuff to make it fit.

I know what you mean, I would love nothing more than to see a 2.0 20vt stilo, or even better a 2.4 20vt stilo, or even an Alfa 3.0 V6 shoehorned in there.

The problem is all the ECU's in the car. The greek guys have done some 2.4 engine swaps but they swap everything over into a new shell. There will be a time when someone finally works out how to integrate a different ECU into the CAN network, and the body computer accepting it, but its just not at the moment.

Yellowstilo has done some great research into various things with the Stilo CAN/diagnostics etc, and if we can get more people interested in that side of the car then who knows, it may be possible in the near future..

EDIT: theres about 4 new posts since I started typing this lol

sorry not spending money on a max power just for 1 feature, i stopped buying it when i was a spotty teenager for good reason.. Its rubbish!!! If it had been in a mag that isn't shocking then i'd have just bought it. On top of that i'd just feel too embarassed to buy one.

And yes, i'm a tight fisted bastard, i'm from yorkshire, what do you expect lol.
