Hi guys this is my first post, been browsing around and this seems like a pretty friendly place.

I have a problem with my car that I am hoping you could help me out with?

The problem started with my punto (2001 ELX speedgear auto) when I was driving down the road and the rpm needle would fly around, the gearbox light came on and the whole car would kind of judder/bounce every so often. After a few days it appeared to do it more frequently.

So I took it to my local Fiat dealarship (now closed down) and they recomended to replace the gearbox oil and filter, which they did. It didn't help at all, so they replaced them again :)eek:) and of course this didn't work. So they recomended to replace the whole gearbox for a cost of about £1800, that was a lot of money and I didn't trust them after they replaced the same parts after about 50 miles of each other.

Instead I called around a few garage and gearbox specialists and none of them would touch it with a barge pole as it is a triptronic, I managed to take it to a loacal (So called) gearbox specialist, he said no problem bla bla, he had it for a few weeks and all seemed to be going fine. He then called to say it couldn't be fixed and gave it back with interior pannels not screwd in (n) and the car now drives worse than ever, It drove out of the garage ok but as soon as the engine warms up I can't seem to get up passed 5 miles an hour and the revs fly around like its stuck in gear or something.

I really don't know what to do now, the car is mint, it's a 51 plate with about 40,000 on the clock, it gets a supprising amount of attension..its been sat on my drive for about a year and people keep knocking my door asking if I will sell it for £500 (about 6 or 7 people now and its completely standard).

I really don't want to sell it as its a lovely car and would much rather get it fixed.
So can any one here recomend what to do? does it sound like a new box is needed? if so where can I get one?

Please help, I'm desperate to get it going, it's been so long since shes seen the road. :worship:

my knolage of fiat gearboxes is not to good so am i right in thinking these are a manual gearbox controled by clutch and gear actuators??
