So it looks like the Thule cross bars bolt into the reception points on the 500X rails.

I assume:

1) one removes the little blanking plugs in the 500X roof rails

2) then bolt the Thule bars into some form of threaded receptive mount in the roof rail?

Will be interesting to see if any other manufactures roof rails actually profile clamp onto the 500X roof rails.

My 500X Cross Plus is also Metalic Bronze - great colour, different and actually hides modest smut/dirt quite well between washes.

Yes the colour definitely can be left a while between washes! My car has been washed once since I got it!
As for the roof bars it clamps anywhere on the rails as long as you have 70cm between the bars! It doesn't use the fiat fixing point! Very easy to fit tho!

Just been and put the roof box on

OMG

The 500X looks like a Space Shuttle Launcher :)

Roof bars and box (or our long not used canoes) is tempting.

Towing a caravan with in car accommodation for two rabbits and two degus and their cages, hay, food, litter etc. plus our camera bags etc. is (based on last two UK outings and one with portable aircon unit in the boot) proving to be a challenging pack compared to the Croma 2005 which the 500X replaced.

BUT, boy is the 500X such a great vehicle. Tows well, pretty good room, very comfortable in even basic 500X trim (eg. no lumbar adjustment) it has been a real winner.

The big test comes next year, our annual 3000 mile caravan trip to northern Italy (2000 towing and 1000 fun mountain motoring).

I have every confidence this 500X is going to be a brilliant performer (actually already is). Can't wait to actually gun the MultiAir Turbo petrol engine up those gorgeous Dolomite roads.

Fortunately we have very good memories and car performance driven in the Italian Dolomites / similar challenges.

So:

Tipo 1.6ie
Tempra 1.8ie
Punto 1.8ie HGT
Coupe 20V (non turbo)
Strada 130TC
Stilo Abarth 2.4
Croma (2005) 1.9 16V 150

and

500X 1.4 MultiAir 140BHP .... to be assessed :)

I was going to do a factory order for the 170 auto cross + but didn't like the wait, saw this in the compound and because of the good spec I went for the quick deal! I have no regrets it's a fab car!

Well at a slight "off side attack" the Fiat systems seem to be a little confused.

According to Fiat Technical systems my 500X (based on VIN) is Green. As I look out lovingly on my little boy I see a lovely metallic bronze baby .....

I've already pointed my dealer at this system error so I suspect in the future my car will officially be Pink!

At least I don't have to worry about emissions fraud and recalls :p
