My new VXR

My new VXR

Only just thought of asking you this, but were you at all put off that it was a manual? I myself prefer manuals any day of the week, but you did seem very keen on getting something with a selespeed-type-gearbox.

Nice pics and motor Koa!

I have been trying hard not to write this but my only criticism of the car and Vauxhall as a whole is the parts sharing thing, i.e. you paid £XXXXX for the VXR but it has the same CD Player (albeit with MP3 capability) as the cheaper Corsa SXsomething or another plus all those poor sods who bought the latest Tigra only to find it had the Corsa dash and interior, cool outside budget crap inside, come on VX buck up the ideas!

Cheers Liam (y)

The CD/MP3 player is awsome for me, I can't fault it, so I have no problem if it is used elsewhere. Sounds much clearer than the Stilo's and whenever I turn it on it continues from where it was :worship: C'mon Fiat sort that out on the Stilo :D I would hardly say the interior isn't anywhere near budget crap though, I wouldn't have bought the car if I didn't think I was making a big step up from what I already had. Build quality, materials and comfort is unbelievable for the money you pay. Come down and have a look first hand mate pictures really don't do this car justice.
Parts sharing is something will find on most cars now and if it's a way of keeping the cost of the motors down for the buying public then that's not so bad.
Look at the Alfa GT, 27K for the top of the range and it has the exact same dash as the 147

you got rid of the grafix, top man (y)

well i fink tht is amazin the exterior is spot on (y) , the dash is a little plan but its ok :)

The seats look like supportive and comfortable, the only way they wud be beta if they were trim in the leather like the stilo was :D
Fanx man (y)

I had the choice of full leather obviously but I have seen a few pics of it and like most leather seats they get baggy on the arse area and very cold or sweaty depending on the wevva :D and I actually prefer the look of the half leather, I think it adds some character to the interior and also is much more grippy when flying :)
The dash to me works very well, it's minimalist and being in a car like this, who needs over complicated stuff.

I was really after a semi auto box, but all the cars that came with them were just not really what I wanted, I was dreading going back to a manual, but at the same time, I knew the manual was a better driving experience, I like the full control you get with it, no more jerking in the mornings now
The clutch on my car is very light so it's not been any hassle driving it so far. (y)

Sorry Mark, was referring to the Tigra there.

Keep snapping with the cam(y)

Hi mate, not been on here for a while, but I'd just like to say; very, very nice(y)

I think you've made a good choice, I personally like the latest Astra and I think the VXR is phenomenal value compared to the Golf GTi:)

Cheers, been lurking a bit lately, meaning to post!

I think you might the right choice; VXR over ST, ST's are already much more common, and can look a bit odd from some angles, they don't have the same visual impact as the VXR.

Yeah there were a couple of things I didn't like about the ST, which was kinda putting me off but I figured that I was just being fussy and they would grow on me. The back end for starters is really not great to look at and the standard focus is not particularly pretty :)

Ooh the good old days of cars with character. I was thinking that exact same thing before I bought the car custard, they have gone slightly retro with this one which is ok by me, it's those sharp lines that I love :D

@Dazza, Cheers matey (y) I'll take you for a blast sometime eh ;)

front end kind of harks back to the old mk2 cavvy

nice motor, lol do agree on the choice of shut line on the front but it nice.had plenty of vauxhalls over the years so i like em :D

Nice pic Custard, wonder where they got all the Calibre Kitted Cavvies from? A kit like that with a DTM upswept and 17" 3 Spokes used to be the bomb.

Liam

calibres are rare, that could be an old photo as only 500 were made.
A bit of background on Calibre's. They were 500 made by Aston Martin/Tickford and Irmscher as an end of run special edition. They came as standard with uprated brakes, lowered suspension, bodykit, 7 function trip computer, and sports seats. supposedly theres only 71 registered now with under 20 on the road.
