Hi, just joined the forum so thought I'd make first post.

Well, I took delivery of my 3door Stilo JTD mid December, and I'm over the moon with it!

Unfortunately I haven't been to lucky so far, my girlfriend and I went for a nice day out a week past Sunday and returned to find a Peugeot 405 with its front quarter embedded into my wing/door/alloy wheel;)

Then my insurance co told me I couldn't add sideskirts, cos I'm a young driver! [:(!]

But, worst of all, I received a letter yesterday informing me I have been caught speeding! So thats 3 points and £60. I don't make a habit of speeding either, I genuinely didn't realise I was doing it! ;)[:(!];)

Anyway, just thought I'd say hello and have a whinge!

James

Hi there, sorry to hear of your woes. :(

Still side skirts dont make your car faster, infact its just spurious extra weight! Speeding though, you muppet.... you've got a speed warning bleeping thingy on your Stilo.

I hope you still love your Stilo.

Yeah, thats really why I can't understand the insurance company making so much fuss bout them, they were an option when I bought the car as well, but I needed my car in a hurry so took one which was in stock. I would have liked leather and 17's as well, but never mind! I did just miss out on one identical to mine but with the leather which was a shame.

I have the bleep set for just above 70, but no help here as I was clocked doin 50 in 40limit (which I am really surprised by). After my old fiesta the Stilo really hides its speed well.

42mpg? not bad from a petrol, I'm averaging around 52mpg, but diesel does cost more:(

Of course your diesel will still be running at 5 million miles, where as mine will have been replaced 10 times! ;)

Yeah its amazing how refined Fiat have managed to make a car as cheap as the Stilo. My Diesel Escort was never the quietest car, but it was good on a run, the Stilo is actually a couple of mpg better than the diesel Escort i had, but then again the replacement gearbox with too low a 5th gear ratio did nowt for economy, but it did mean i'd give some bigger (see 3 series BMW or VW golf) cars the odd fright. Gotta agree, I can't believe how much car I've got for my money, when I'm driving it, it feels every bit as solid and comfortable as VW and Audi's I've driven.

Actually, when I first got in a Stilo, the first thing I thought was how much its interior style reminded me of a passat I used to drive regularly at my old job. The Passat is a bit different inside in its current form, I had the pleasure of driving a V6 4motion about a year ago:), but I still the the Stilo is very VW like inside.

My mate has a golf Gt tdi 130, and yes it's a nice car, goes like the clappers too, but I don't think it justifies like 7k over the cost of mine, which has a very similar spec.

Don't tell him that though!
