mini up date not been lazing about :p fuel tank is out and been getting back up to scratch with tig 200 pounds for pure argon :O and going to order 7m of cds may make out of chromoly (t45) later on oh and taking petrol tank out side and one half snagged on trailer and it swang into the car a small scratch :(

it sounds easy and it is fairly straightforward on the bulkhead side of things but when it comes to converting the gearbox it's a whole different story because there is no mount for the slave cylinder on the cinqs standard upper selector casting and its not as easy as swaping the selector from the punto on to the cinqs box well it is but the selector spindle it's totally different it can be done but the work involved makes no sense plus with cable not a lot to go wrong (y)

Just joined and whilst browsing came across your post. Have had ideas of doing similar but don't know where to find out what to use or how to? Have reasonable experience with Puntos (daughter had SX85 and now a Sporting Speedgear, sister ELX16v, niece a 55S and son a ELX75 all bought by me and maintained by me). I have a 75 head with MPI attached including part loom and ECU - it's from a pre red key M reg (though I have key just in case) I know the head drops straight on 1108 Punto 55S engine. Is it true it has hotter cam and bigger valves than a 60 as well as MPI versus SPI? Is throttle body different? How tricky to wire into Cinq or Sei if they have 1108 engine already please. I would look to sort the brakes first - I had a MK1 Golf GTI years ago with crap brakes and think I used up all my spare car lives. I survive using my Yamaha 500 bike everyday by going quicker than most things but making sure the brakes are always spot on as well. Fiats seem badly misrepresented to me and there are some bargains around. I bought one Punto for £102 off eBay with 1 months tax and 5 months MOT. Non starter for 2 months but took battery, got seller to push and car went first try. Drove home, cleaned up starter so it threw the gear full length of shaft and sold same week for £350 to lad convinced he had bargain of the year. The white ones seem to be very good against rust for some reason, niece's P reg is immaculate underneath. Oh, the main thing is they are great fun to drive!

first welcome to the forum (y)

second what engine are you intending to use and to put it in what ?

as for confirmed engine specifications i'm not 100% but i know the cam is an upgrade but unsure about valves tb is diferent i think

and as for brakes the engine in this weighs absolutely nothing in comparison to the standard engines plus in intend and currently working on lightening the entire shell (i can lift the back and front by my self) but i am going to upgrade the rears to disk but i reckon the fronts are adequate for the job and i dont intend to race it around on the road like a T**t (y)

P75 head has the 866cam which is livelier than a p55/60 or cento one.

The P75 head has larger valves yes, but some late P60's had the same larger valves but trying to find one with the larger valves is a bit hit and miss.

And yes the 75 has mpi whereas 60 is spi.

fitting a P75 head to a 55/60 is pretty simple but you need the 75 inlet manifold and TB, the P75 also has a better exhaust manifold design and although i don't think you need it you may as well get it from the donor vehicle while your at it. Wiring wise, as i understand it, you can just split the wire to the spi injector 4-ways onto the inctors on the 75fuel rail.

Hope that helps.. HF Turbo has a cinq with full p75 engine and sure he could answer any more detailed questions you may have ;)
