Grande Punto My Grande Sporting 'Francesca'

Introduction

Hi all,
Fairly new to this forum malarkey but been looking through threads on here for a while before finally getting my 56 plate Grande 1.4 16v Sporting with skydome roof about 3 weeks ago! Won her on an eBay auction for £2350 with 1 owner from new FSH and 60,000 on the clock (quite a bargain I think?!). Picked her up from London so got a good drive back up to Yorkshire to get to know Francesca (yes... I called her that :) ) and I have to say I'm already in love!

Quite an upgrade from my first car a 1.0L Polo 6n (absolutely great car btw, built like a tank :D ):

Already fitted some Team Heko wind deflectors:

And swapped to the red badge at the front (rest to follow):

Got some plans for the near future:

Abarth lights all round
Smoked side repeaters
Refurbing the alloys (pretty bad curbing) and possibly resprayed white
Eibach Sportlines
Tinted rear windows
Convert to red badges all round
White mirror caps if I go for the white alloys

...plus whatever else the future holds but for now thanks for looking and let me know what you think!
Well a couple of days ago this arrived in the post courtesy of iPunto90 and 60 of my Great British Pounds :D can't wait to get it fitted next week!

Also got round to spraying up the grill matte black

Such an improvement from such a subtle mod :)

Also getting my wheels refurbed on Tuesday...still about 90% sure ill stick to white but there is something niggling me about it. I've considered a really dark silver like gun metal black but still a little undecided. What does anyone think?

I'm soo happy with the results, got them done at Metal Magic in Barnsley...£250 for a full refurb and spray up in any colour of your choice. All done in a day too so if anyone up north is considering getting a refurb I highly recommend them! (y)

Looks awesome, but keep them clean. You go leaving dirt/brake dust on them and it won't come off....which will make you cry. Looks the part though for sure! Now you need some lowwws, like real bad! Haha :)

Thanks :) yeah will have to keep them clean, worth it though! Haha yeah desperately in need of lows, they're on the to do list :)

I agree tbh, the GP is a stunning car standard, just needs a couple of personal touches to make it stand out. Think I've got a bit of matte black spray kicking around somewhere, might give it a go :)

Fancy coming across to Leeds with your matt black paint and doing my upper grille ! ;)

Haha think I'm all out now! It was so easy to do though, just the sanding down was a bit fiddley, worth it though for the sake of a £7 can of paint! (y)
RowingLad87 thanks mate :) yeah I love having the sunroof...not that it's any use atm, bloody British weather! :shakehead:

So quick questions ??

1 how do I remove the grill.

2 how do I actually paint the grille ?

The grill just pulls out, hold the top two corners and you can prise it out. As for painting I gave it a quick sand down with 400/600 grit paper so it's got something to stick to, oh and remove the badge ;) then just gave it three coats and it's done (y)

Pulls out from the front or the back ? And does it not need any primer .

If its the first time its ever been taken out, it'll be stiff....real real stiff. Your going to have to trust me when i say its going to need some forceful pulling/tugging to get it out. I was rather quite scared the first time i tried taking mine out. The entire front bumper was bending in/out with little to no movement of the grill. But with patience, and a bit of adaptive tugging i you begin to get a feel for the movement and eventually it will literally fly off, most likely with you still holding it and rolling backward.

As if! Mine came off easy as you like! And I can't imagine the previous owners would have had it off, could be just the luck of the draw I guess :p

Probably should put a picture up of the backbox not it's been fitted :D

Gives it a bit of grunt, but not too loud and chavvy..love it!

Just looking into lows for it now if anyone knows of any cheap eibachs they would be much appreciated :D
