In 13 years of driving I'd never hit anything until tonight

Cute little bunny wabbit, only about 5 inches tall. I was doing 60 and saw it from about 15 meters, made sure it didn't go under a wheel but forgot that my clearance underneath is less than the breadth of my hand. I was really quite proud of my 0 kills

Just gotta be glad it didn't hit the body work i guess

no poor bloody rabbit! the road around here are littered with bloody animals. Anything rabbit sized or down arn't too bad as they go under the car but both of my cars have bloody damage due to pheasants and other large birds. I had three scratches all the way up my bonnet on my old car where i hit one and have a lump missing from the grill on the bravo and the paint on the bumper has gone all crazy where i hit another. dam things!!

I wrote a friends Metro off when I ran into a herd, yes a herd, of deer. I killed two of them though. Eamon who comes on here occasionally hit a New Forest pony just before Christmas (where are you Eamon???).
I also had a rabbit stuck in the suspension of a car in the hot summer of 1990 - took me weeks to work out what the smell was!
I hit a black labrador in France in 2002, damn thing just walked out in front of me!
Sold my original 156 2.5 with a blackbird stuck in the grill
So I guess I am just about ready to make that roadkill stew now!

I nearly run into a herd of cows @11pm coming home a few months back. all I could see at first was lots of orange+green dots getting closer. very scary indeed.

Glad to say that no longer am I held down by the tag of 'Student' as just as we speak I have signed the contract to my first, meaningful full time job that I have spent the past 5 years preparing for.

Otherwise I may have taken offence, I doubt it though! lol

I think we greatly under estimate the service we as grim reapers of road death provide to the animal population.

I'm certain there are just as many thrill seekers and adrenaline junkies in animals as in ourselves, if not more so; and since we have removed practically all their natural predators, they are left helplessly searching for something to scare them into realising again what life is all about in the wild (their species will only weaken over time without survival of the fittest alone).

You must all have noticed on a counltess number of occasions,when birds take flight from the roadside to fly as close to your vehicle as possible, often disappearing beneath your front end, only to emerge victoriously in your rear view mirror, without any good reason in the first place for having left the safety of their hedgerow.

And then there are always guna be those that just want to end it, but have no blood thirsty predator to do them the favour of finishing them off, so we are their best last hope (now you know why some of them go in the same direction as you do each time you swerve to try to avoid them!(...I personally don't try to manouvre around them though, if there is any chance of endangering other road users who still cherish thier hides, besides their motors too of course )
