Grande Punto My First Car (2006 GP 1.2 Dynamic)- thoughts and tips welcomed

Introduction

So I just got my first car; the 2006, 1.2 litre Dynamic Grande Punto. Colour scheme will no doubt raise a few eyebrows with certain members, but I think it could work with some nicer alloys (fiat ones, not aftermarket I don't think).

Looking to upgrade the seats to the orange sporting Punto set so if anyone happens to have seen a set online, or knows of a set going, please let me know!

I'm not a boy racer, not looking for it to look like something it's not. Just want it to look refreshed, modern and sleek really. So any details or ideas you guys have will be very much appreciated.

Cheers guys,

Max

@SJB1985 - yeah that could be it mate, no I haven't got the blue and me kit but I had just assumed that the phone/windows button wouldn't work and the others would? I suppose I'm mistaken. Could try moving the buttons from the old wheel on to the new one I guess? Hmm

Yeh remove buttons but keep the silver trim mate :) its worth a try I suppose mate, it the only thing I can think of tbh.

Do you have any idea whether that's easy to do mate?

I would say so mate, if you have managed to change the steering wheel. Switching over the buttons and the wiring cant be that difficult, hopefully someone else will chip in mate I haven't done this but cant see it being all that difficult. Hardest part would be I would think is the steering wheel airbag removal.

Okay buddy, I'll give it a go then and just play about, see what happens! To be honest, getting the airbag off wasn't as hard as I was making it for myself. It's only difficult because you can't actually see what it is you're meant to be moving but once it's out and you can see everything it shouldn't be very hard second time around. Going to go out now and disconnect the battery to prep the airbag for a quick removal haha!

Leave that battery off for at least an hour mate before you touch anything, I played it super safe when I removed mine and left the battery off overnight lol. I didn't fancy the airbag going off and me ending up with a nice Fiat imprint in my face PMSL :D

Best of luck make hope you get it sorted (y)

Yeah I left it for tomorrow anyway mate, too dark to be fiddling with the battery. Just taken apart the buttons in the old wheel though and I think I've come up with a way of moving the old circuit board and wires over to the new steering wheel so I get the functionality back whilst still having the new buttons and look! Here's a better photo for you all too, I'm very happy with the look and feel of the thing, just need to get these buttons going now! ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1395262534.628064.jpg

Here's the first tip I can give you stepheno - quite a day! Ha! Anyway, from my work on the wheel I can't see any difference between the blue badge and the red badge airbag, I just moved my blue badge one right in to the new wheel and used an epoxy extra strength glue to lock the red badge on, just an illusion though friend

Do what I've done, apart from orange instead of white, which is paint or replace every little thing that's not orange, to orange,
orange grille, orange vinyl behind numberplate, orange wing mirror caps, orange door handles, orange alloys, orange fog caps

Most people on here would hate that, I'd personally love it!

stepheno sjb1985 - good news lads! Switched over the circuit board from the old buttons along with the cables then just dropped the new buttons over them and it worked great! All the buttons are working nicely and so the job is done! Wahey!
