Panda (Classic) My 4x4 - The Muddy Pics!

Introduction

Hey everyone as I've only just joined I thought I'd post some more pictures to show you lovely lot what we're all about up here in the bleak North.

Both me and my mate have Pandas, mine's the '87 and his the '89, both Italian Racing Grey.

As I've previously said, although we put the Pandas through their paces we take good care of the old lasses because we want the fun to keep coming.

I hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoy making them! :D

Some of these pics are from a while ago, I'll get some new ones up soon :)
Only a bit more than one I am afraid. This regata was sold new in 1984 in Germany, had made about 400000km as a company car in Deutsche Sorin Biomedica, than had been sold to Poland ,and another 300000 as a taxi.(y)I bought it because I needed the gearbox from this car to my other regata{ I still use it in my regata 2.0 16v ,it is a bit noisy :p but synchros are working fine}, but it turned that way, that I had driven it for its last 3 years.

Sorry for making an "off-topic" in your topic:)

I've received full service history from Germany and some from the "taxi" period.Car had two minor crashes and one engine overhaul{in Poland}.During my 3 years period of use only the shaft position sensor for digiplex ignition broke down, and I had to replace front wishbones. There were to many holes in the car body to save it though, and I had two other regatas, one of which needed the gearbox from the white 100S.

Yes, the car was a fun to drive, I like ritmo{strada in UK} and regata as a daily driver. Now I do not use my both regataD and regata sedicivalvole in winter, but then white 100S was perfect winter car. The amount of salt on the roads here during winter kills old and new cars also, so I have to have one car to sacrifice during winter, then it was white regata, now it is my 4x4 trekking.

Regata in 2009 when it looked reasonably.

And after 3 polish winters:D

Yeah that is a cool car! Can't believe how bad it got after only three years!! Mind you how long does winter last in your country? I thought we were the only ones that suffered from road salt! What were the specs for this car then, horsepower top speed etc? :)

The gray patches on the first photo are the holes in the car body repaired by the previous ovner with filler and gray primer. Car was already full of holes when I bought it, last 3 years only "opened the old wounds" hehe :) .There are about 4 to 5 months of salty mud lying on polish roads.

Regata 100S was 1.6 dohc 101 hp, revy engine but with very long diff ratio in gearbox{ 60mph on the second gear with 6000rpm plus , no problem}Still had 10.4 sec to 100km/h. top speed was 113 mph I think.

:D

A handful of new pics for your Friday viewing pleasure taken at our latest muddy adventure.

This is a new "pay & play" site which has just opened right on our doorstep. Held every month it is open all day and you can basically go anywhere and do anything. it's an old military training ground so there are many dead tanks kicking about and a fair few bomb holes to play in!

I am thinking that the next off-road Panday we have this place should be included :)

I have also got some video footage from the day which I will share with you later :)

Sounds like paradise to me :D Great place to go for a relaxing ride. May I ask what is the price of that "fun in the range" day in Britain?

Sounds great to me lad the more Pandas the better!!!

Anyone is welcome in any vehicle to come down some green lanes with us, but just remember this...

Big trucks get stuck...

...and little Pandas get through!

Anyone who hasn't had the chance to have a go in a 4x4 really should see what they're capable off - they are fantastic little cars and brilliant off road. Anyone who tells you that Panda 4x4s are toy off roaders really doesn't know what they are talking about.
My friend who has the other grey '89 Panda used to work for North Yorkshire off road club, he's had all the Landarovers, Discoverys Troppers etc. and now has the Panda, he says it's the best of them all!

Here's a pic from one of the events...

:D

...AND here's the latest video from the last trial we did...
Fiat Panda 4x4 Off Road 2012 Fellbeck Trial [yorkshireboys] - YouTube

Absolutely brilliant stuff!!!! Coming from Land Rovers I just lurve the idea of one of these really cute little Pandas going almost anywhere that a Landy can.

Very well driven as well(y)(y)

Oh God, I can see another purchase in the foreseeable future. Can you put lift kits on Pandas? Larger diameter wheels to increase ground clearance?

I'm bitten, totally bitten:eek::eek:

Dave

Cheers for the comments Dave - you can lift them upto 10 cm but it's a fair bit of work. There is a video on youtube of a lad that has done it, i can't post links on my phone for some reason if Dragon Man is online he may be able to post it for you...

There is a full lift kit available from the Italian Panda off-road club but it's over £1000 delivered, that would take you up 3" or 7.5 cm.

If you get one though you will realise just how capable they are, and like you say increasing the rim size gets you a bit higher alot easier. Many of us 4x4 drivers on the forum have had our Pandas in very sticky situations before going off road and they really are unstoppable - you can easily stagger ruts that see land rovers and the like bogged upto the axels, and it sure shuts the owners up after they've been taking the mick out of you car in the car park for being a 'toy'. There are many more of my videos of Panda activities on my youtube account, just follow the link in your quote and click on my username when you get onto youtube :)

Well that won't be happening :eek::eek:

I love the idea of:

A. Having a nice little car for everyday work - cheap to run etc, environmentally sound bla bla bla.

B Then going for rambles on all the pistes around us, to get further into the country.

I feel I'm on a slippery slope :((y)
