Ciao Spideristi in the UK,

I am George from Munich in Germany and I entered the forum to get in touch with you for a specific reason: my wife Sylvia and me are planung a trip with our Fiat 124 Spider CS2 to Cornwall incl. a visit of the Goodwood Speed Week in July 2026.

Back in 1995 we already made a three week trip to Scotland with our Spider, driving all the way from Munich up to Calais and then through xxx up to Birmingham, Newcastle finally to Stirling and Edinburgh. We drove through the Lowlands and then back through London, Dover an to drive home. It was a great amazing experience and we were very lucky with the weather. Only one afternoon we had a little rain so we could drive open the whole trip. Some pictures are attached.

Now, after more than 30 years, we intend to return to England to explore the Southwest.

What we are now looking for are contacts with Spideristi's in this area for tips and hints regarding the route to take, places to visit and where to stay for a day and more. Finally we want to reach Lands End (if it is worth visiting) and go back through a different route to Dover.

Is there anyone who might be interested to get in touch with us to help us to plan our roundtrip?

Thanks in advance for any support!

Greeting,
George & Sylvia

My Fiat 124 Spider:
- my first car
- owend since < 30 years
- 125.000 mls
- built 1979
- long trips to France, La Rochelle, Normandie, Italy (several times), Austria, Germany & England/Scotland

Hi and welcome:)

Just been watching highlights from this weekend's Goodwood festival of speed, so I hope you enjoy your visit next year - especially the mighty fiat s76 'Beast of Turin' :)

I would always try and get in to the Minack open air theatre when visiting Cornwall, magical venue. Being a British summer you'll need a jumper and raincoat.

Tintagel, Boscastle and Fowey were my usual haunts.

Cornwall has long been a 'foodie' destination so some great restaurants down there...
...and scrumpy is best bought straight from the farm I reckon :)

And if it's raining... head to the opposite coast 😉

Well, we are used to some rain and are well equipped. Don't mind. Our Spider is quite dry, even after some heavy rain shower. Funny that you mentioned Minack: we saw "Fishermens Friends" two days ago and we were amaized about the view. Yes, will be a MUST!
And about food: we love good food. So give us some ideas where to go, would be phantastic!
Thanks again for your message!
All the best,
George & Sylvia

Well I hope you like seafood :D

He's a bit of a celebrity, but I've always liked Rick Stein's approach to food, so if you want a special treat and can get a table, his Riverside restaurant in Padstow might be worth considering.

Plus of course some Stargazy Pie in Mousehole:)

Talking of film, might I recommend Bait, a good Cornish film:

And Rebecca is a classic set in Cornwall

My family who lived there until recently raved about it. So I second that.
