General multipla with slight missfire

Hi all I have a problem with my multipla it has a misfire at lower revs and rubbish fuel mileage I have a fault code P0300 random/multiple cylinder misfire detected. Does anyone no how to fix it please many thanks

I read on here a similar problem it was the exhaust sensor and it sorted it out so try that.

yeah try lambda sensor first if not that could be coil pack.

Also would it be the front or rear lambda sensor I should replace

wouldn't know which one it could be. My multi only has one. I have the earlier 1.6 engined multi.

Mine multi is 2001 x plate I will have a look to see if I have more than one it was just when I looked on ebay it had one saying front sensor and another saying rear one so I was a bit confused. It only seems to misfire when pulling away and when I change gear or if I put my foot down until it gets up to speed

try cleaning the map sensor and throttle body before you start buying parts. The map sensor is located on the plastic part that goes across the top of the engine its bulkhead side. Get a can of carb cleaner and blast the gunk off. Mine had a hesitant jerking feel when driving but after i cleaned the parts I've described it stopped.
Oh you'll need some torx bits to remove the map sensor.
Also look at the crank pulley sensor. Give it a blast with cleaner and a wipe over.

Still no joy now the exhaust has started to blow and the brake discs need changing. Do you think its worth spending any money on it as the mot is due in june or should I scrap it

where's the exhaust blowing from? This may be the cause of the misfire. If the leak is pre lambda sensor it can cause running issues.
Everything is fixable just depends how much money/time you wanna throw at it.

Its blowing from the bit just before the rear back box I have put some gun gum on it for now. And the fuel consumption is shocking the on board computer is saying 11 mpg and the best I got was 13 mpg but the misfire is only when I pull off and change gear and only lasts a few seconds. When im up to speed it will run fine all day and im getting no fault codes at all now. But as for the money side don't want to through money at it if its going to fail the mot on to much its a shame as love these cars this is my 3rd

I have bought a new car and was going to scrap my multi but I have decided to keep it the misfire has got worse but not getting any eml light on. The other problem is its booked in for an mot in the morning should I replace the coil pack at a cost of £60 before the mot

Just like to say thanks for the advice I was given I replaced the coil pack and now runs great. I decided to keep my multi even after buying a Passat as such a use full car and as a bonus my multi passed its mot first time
