Technical multipla 2007 rear door

i'm a newbie and joined for some help as the rear door won't open and although i can use the release knob it's a bit difficult as the multipla is converted for a wheelchair,i found a thread which says it could be the microswitch but where can i get one from,any help would be appreciated,JP

When you say 'rear door' do you mean the tailgate, or a rear passenger side door?

You may be able to coax the existing one back to life if you can get at the microswitch inside the casing. A bit of contact cleaner spray often does the trick.

i've got all the inside back off etc but how do i get to the micro switch ? or to take out the handle completely to clean it ?

You take off the panel that holds the numberplate off the bottom of the tailgate. It unbolts from inside behind the plastic panel.

thanks for the info,got it all off and gave it a clean with acf50 but the handle and switch just doesn't feel right so i think if i can replace the fiat multipla tailgate release handle it will solve it, all i need to do is find one, can these be bought new ? is it a matter of contacting fiat to source one ? are there any fiat spares dealers ? funny if i need spares for my 40 year+ suzuki bikes i just pop down to my local suzuki shop and order the bits but finding this part for our 10 year old multipla seems impossible

If you want to replace the microswitch it should be just as easy as for your bikes. Go to a local Fiat dealer and talk to their parts guy, or even call them first then just visit when they get the part in.

thanks i'll do that, is there such a thing as a multipla parts list ? then it would be really easy if i had the part number,JP

Click on "ePER" in the blue bar at the top of the page....

Be warned though - the genuine Multipla boot handle is expensive and not always easy to get hold of. That's why someone here came up with the fix based on the Vauxhall part.

here is an update on the multipla tailgate saga, i contacted fiat and they wanted £257+ vat !! anyway i found this and it came in a couple of days for £50 inc p+p fitted and working perfectly,here is the link as it might be of use to others and cheers for the help.
