Hi guys - have seen several posts on here about the bugs overheating, but not allot have answers that help me, so I thought I would open this one up.
Have a 52 plate Multipla.
On a trip back from Dorset earlier this week it told me it was over heating and suggested I stop the engine.
once pulled over, I opened the hood, and the coolant level was fine, no loss of water at all, coolant and engine didn’t seem too hot, fan was working fine. No Mayo in the oil cap, so I concluded it was the ECU telling porky pies.
Managed to limp home at 60mph with the temp gauge at 4 bars. Rising when under load, but soon cooling again when slowed.
Got home, ordered a new temp. sender unit, which arrived today. Just whizzed the old one out, and the new one in - and went for a burn...
and guess what - still doing the same...
Now I am getting water pumped into the header unit ok, and when the stop light came on I thought what the hell - lets keep her going, which she did just fine.. of course it put itself into limp mode, but all the same - I drove 15 miles or so and still didn’t loose any water, still no mayo in the oil fan running ok.
I am pretty sure this is a sensor issue, but am I missing something?? in addition to the temp sender unit, there is another regulator item on the RHS of the RAD. silver circular items with a green end - this seems to go to the fan.. but not sure what this is?? I presume something to do with the AC unit??
Any suggestions greatly received.
