lol unlucky mate, If you were a bit closer I'd sort it out in person for you **cough** My timing belt still needs doing**cough* .

It should be ok copying stuff onto a harddrive just virus check the harddrive once done and then again when you copy it back to your PC.

Im depressed now- havent reinstalled windows for about a year, and its got all sorts of programs and tweaks done to it. ive got about 150gb of programs alone

meanwhile, bits are still dying on my pc - random screen refreshes, more threats every 5min, and my windows have gone a bit funny. first time ive seen a virus in action

Unlucky. I have 2 specialised custom XP install disks one is called XP 'Black Edition' and the other 'Ultimate' and it comes fully loaded and tweaked right out the box :worship:. Well my offer is there if your having trouble .

disable prefetch, clear it out of there, fix boot loader and save yourself re-installing windows

is it ok to copy my files off the old infested drive? ive just done a general scan of the drive, and deleted about 20 viruses. but then started it again, and got another two already.
