Technical mpi or spi??

Is my 2002 mk 2 punto 1.2 8V a single point injection or a multi point injection?

I thought it would be same as mk1, as they are 60BHP right? And mine is SPI, the MPI is 75bhp.

Nope, older cars used MPi to get the extra oomph, later cars used the MPi to meet emission regs.

So your telling me mk2's have 15 more bhp than my 60s SPI?

Nope. Spi 60s and Mpi 60s have the sameish output, the MPi is cleaner in so doing.

The 75s use different cams to get more power along with a different map.

You reckon I would benefit from a camshaft from a mpi mk1? I know someone who has done it before on here. what youthink

no point stick with what you have for a year then get something a bit faster when the insurance will be cheaper and your more experienced

The P75 cam is a well known upgrade, but, it needs to be set up properly and probably needs a vernier to get it right.

On top of that, its effectiveness will be reduced on an older engine.

Then you have the insurance question.
