Very low...I'll be getting about 500-550 miles outta mine with £67 worth of diesel (also at 139.9)

Edit: Where are you buying it from? I find that Supermarket fuel gives really poor mpg in comparison with Shell (which is what I always use..) just because of the different additives.

It cost me £86 to completely fill my 1.4 petrol. That was with Shell V-Power, exactly 60 litres at 143.9 a litre. I get 550-600 miles out of it if i drive like a granny 450-500 when i thrash it a bit. But agreed with the above...fuels from shell i find are much better because of their aditives and i use only V-Power as i see a 4mpg extra increase wich covers the extra cost and i know it keeps my engine running sweet by keeping my injectors n n stuff cleaner than tesco and other supermarket fuels.
 
Everyone asks the same. Why put V-Power or any other high octane fuel in such a small engine car?I spose its down to personal choice at the end of the day but i can feel the difference between V-Power and normal fuels. The engine just seems to run smoother. I don't have to use half as much throttle to get acceleration like i did when it was run on tesco basic. The additives keep it running at its best so the way i see it if i look after the car it will look after me. Its a 56 plate car so the engine is still (reletivly) new. If it was a 10-20 year old car then ye running V-power in an engine where damage has already been done and parts are worn would be pointless. I know there are lots of arguements and theories on these types of fuels on various other forums. Obviously the gains i see aren't as recognizable as in a bigger engine car but i will never go back to supermarket fuel. Its an extra £6 for a full tank of V-Power. Its still £80 for a full tank of nomal so thats nothing really at the end of the day :p

Out of interest though it'd be good to hear other peoples thoughts in this. Should set up a poll or sumthing (y)
 
I always go for the highest octane on fuel and find it's such a big difference that when I put regular fuel instead I always think something's wrong with the car.

Sure, mine is a 1.8 but I'm sure you can see a lot of difference on the 1.4 as well so I agree with Andy on this one. It may not be cost effective but it's more fun and caring. :)

Hi I've got a jtd dynamic multiwagen 03 reg and the computer on mine says 38.4 mpg and thats over the last 2000 miles! I don't drive that fast but is mainly going to work and back does that figure sound bad ?

That figure isn't that great really no...do you do a lot of accelerating and braking? By this I mean are you in traffic a lot of the time when you commute? Cos that'll drive it straaaaaaaaight down, regardless of any mechanical failure...
 
I've had my JTD Multiwagon for about three weeks now. Computer giving me an average of 43mpg, that's mainly town driving and travelling to work, but not much of that over easter.
My work journey is 30 miles each way - half motorway, half main roads with traffic lights...
I'm averaging about 48 on the return trip, but that's driving carefully - 60 there and 70 back.
I've noticed that my journey is uphill - the car does 45mpg on the 15 miles of motorway going @60mph, and does 50mpg on the same stretch in the opposite direction @70mph!!
Going to try some injector cleaner in the tank, give it 200 miles and see if it improves a bit.
At the moment, 48mpg means I'm about £1.50 a day better off than I was in my old Rover 1.4 for the work run, so it doesn't quite justify the expense of changing. If I could squeeze another 4 or 5 mpg out of it, I'd be much happier...
 
I'm normally get about 43 sitting at 45 atm more town than motorway tho. I still need to clean my map and maf sensors to see if I can improve it. I cleaned the egr but it wasn't overly dirty and give me a very small increase. I intend to clean it and blank it off but not till next service bugger of a job imo.
 
hi i've got a 1.6 16 V dynamicand the trip says i'm getting around 30 MPH i travel 40 miles to work on the M62 normally very early in the morning and late at night so no traffic. does 30 MPH sound ok.
 
In a 1.6 stilo you should be averaging 35/36mpg really...i think :p For you to be getting 30 you must be bombing it down the motorway :p In my 1.4 i average 39-44mpg depending on how i drive it :rolleyes:
