Yeah, but I got a diesel and get 43mpg average, so what's creating the huge difference?
Driving style? What fuel you use? Cleanliness of engine? Efficiency of injectors? All factors, my friend
Driving gently, using standard Shell Diesel, have run a dose of Forte deisel traeatment through it....
hi no not bombing it nice and steady 70-75 not much more.In a 1.6 stilo you should be averaging 35/36mpg really...i think

You have the sporting 150 so get the power and economy Theres one for sale about 40 miles from me goin for 4500. When i saw a slump in my mpg I used redex fuel system cleaner and poured half a bottle in before topping up petrol. I found it helped alot. And If your not in a rush to go anyway either travel at 60 instead? I know it can be boring at long distance but obviously it saves fuel.

40k i think, can't really remember. I would p/x mine for it but i know i'd get f all for it with the mods i got on it

I get 330 miles from £45 worth of PETROL! 1.6 Injection, no turbo trickery... although it is a lot slower than my last car
What are you guys doing with your diesels? My GPS MJet returned 46 MPG knocking about & over 50 MPG on a steady 69MPH Motorway haul...

Not too bad yeah...to be honest I steer clear of the readings given by the car and instead work out how many miles I've got out of my tank from the miles I've done and how much fuel I put in...
Started using Fuelly a little while ago, maybe worthwhile that you join if you want to keep track? All you do is record the price, how many litres you filled up and the odometer reading of your car each time. It does the rest as long as you fill up to full each time it works fine.

OK, here's an interim update after my earlier post...
My daily commute is 30 miles, half motorway, a third dual carriageway, the rest main roads...
Over the past couple of weeks, I've been driving reeltively gently/normally on the non-motorway, then setting cruise on the motorway to 60mph.
Invariably, I've got between 47 and 47.5 mpg.
Anyhow, I put in some Miller's Diesel stuff last week, twelve quid for a 500ml bottle, treats ten tanks. Says on the label not to expect results until 200 miles of use.
Anyhow, by this morning I'd done 200 miles... so set off, and coming off the motorway, the average mpg was 50.1 - it had previously bested at 48, and by the time I got to work, I had it at 49 dead, that's 2.5 mpg better than ever before. Even nipping round to the chippy and stuff at lunchtime, my mpg was still reading around 48, when previously it would probably have been 45-46.
I know it doesn't sound much, but that saving works out at 50p per day, so that's over £100 a year in fuel savings. I know there's the cost of the Miller's, but that works out at about 15p a day by my maths.... and I don't know if it will need it once it's done it's cleaning stuff. I'm hoping/assuming so, because if it was just cetane boosters that were improving the MPG, the results would be pretty instant, rather than after 200 miles.
Going to repeat the test on the reverse journey - it's more downhill, so I previouly topped at 49. Will keep you posted.

Doesn't sound right I'm afraid, I used to do a 30 mile commute, half country roads (hammering it with no remorse) half motorway (cruising at 70), I would stop at maybe 4 sets of lights tops across a one way trip and I was averaging just over 36MPG.
I do more town driving now (very gently most of the time mind you) and average around 28MPG

Out - 46-47mpg Home 48-49mpg Average 48mpg
Now, I've been using Miller's Diesel Ecomax treatment for a week, and all of a sudden after I've done 200 miles:
Out: 49mpg Home 55mpg Average 52mpg!! Doesn't sound much? It equates to about 20 quid a month less fuel used!

@Tangerine - sounds like a drastic improvement as well then. I'm going to get some Comma diesel treatment soon to try. Might wait til mine is out of warranty though!
I looked at all the different ones, including Comma... I used Forte first, made no difference... but I went for the Millers on based on reviews, and the fact that you treat 500 litres for £12, as opposed to a one hit solution like Comma - the Millers has worked after one hit, but I get to maintain the cleaning process over the next ten tankfuls... will be interesting to see if perfomance drops off without it.
