MPG Question

Could any of you do me a favour and work my a few things out for me plz cos im totaly useless wiv maths! Rite the question is yesterday going to stanny hall i filled up just before goin and by the time id gotten home again i had used a full tank so i really would like to kno wot mpg im gettin out of my car.

Rite the numbers are £35 of petrol at 82.9p per litre & i got slightly over 300 miles outta the tank full tank thats based on about 40 miles of normal road driving and then another 260 miles of motorway driving. I seem to be gettin real crap mpg but wud like 2 kno the exact figure.

I Really thought that i was gettin **** mpg so does this sound about normal for a 1.6? i thought that it was really low seein as i only get about 210 miles outta a full tank town driving.

Best way to do it.

1. Fill up to brim.
2. Reset clock
3. Drive as per normal until eother half empty or nearly empty.
4. Fill up to brim and not how many litres you have put in.
5. Check clock on how many miles you have covered.

You can then see clearly how much fuel has been used and how many miles you have covered

I woul hope that's poor for a 1.6. I get that or better out of my HGT.

As Wimmy says, only reliable way is a "Brim to brim" measurement.

i could never work out why the MPG in my 1.6 was soo bad either

my latest del sol SiR has 170bhp and does 33 to the gallon which is actualy slightly better lol!!

all very strange

so the sprty faster car is actualy more economical than the family car lol!

Just done some calculations myself today.

On average, I seem to achieve 32-33mpg in a 1.8.
