Will a car pass its MOT with a wing mirror held on by gaffa tape?

dont worry, im not talking about my Panda

I assume the glass is in one piece and there are no sharp or jagged pecies and that its secure?

If so then it should.

Which side is it?

Its a 3 points £60 endorsable offence to have a none functioning door mirror, although if passengerside I can legally be removed whole, but drivers side HAS to have a fully functioning door mirror.

Unfortunatly it is drivers side.
The glass is in one piece and I can still see using it.
Some little s**t knocked it clean off at the stem, so i have gaffa taped it back on.

This thing is its a 1991 vw polo coming to the end of its life. So if there are any problems at the MOT it will be scraped, but if i know it wont pass the MOT because of the wing mirror then there isnt any point in getting it MOTd cos the repair will cost more than the car is worth

yeah that is an option but there isnt one local to me

so are we thinking that the car could fail for it but also might not?

ak ok then, ill probably put it through then hoping for the best
Why risk wasting the fee? Stick your neck in the MOT garage doors and go, "Oi, matey, will this fail?" - or words to that effect - and point to the mirror. I'd sooner do that than take a chance.

If you are worried about the tape holding it secure how about using an automotive type glue as well?
I don't know where exactly it broke or how much room you got to play with but I wonder if you could drill an hole and use the shank of a bolt etc to 'pin' the two parts together???

well the tape is working fine, but its just how the garage sees it i guess

there isnt much i can about it really, its broke at the thinnest point and there isnt much room around it
