under the bonnet....
So this is just a simple question I mean I was going to tell mot on the day about it but just wanted to know if its essential to tell them!

So most people know my car had new engine back in august 2013 (feels weird, feels like only yesterday stuck on the m1 haha!).

So will I need to declare to mot station that its had an engine swap but is off same car and same power?:)

Thanks !
Benny

nope they dont check engine number, you need to inform DVLA about engine change and maybe insurance company but to be honest wouldnt bother with insurance company as long as same engine ( same model and power) they like to charge more for nothing ( my mate resprayed his landrover from green to green and cream top - they charged him £40 for change of details and £20 more on premium - changed details at dvla and when renewal came up he went online and same company quoted him £120 less than his renewal was ) and if they do need to access after a accident they check it against the V5 log book, so you need that to be correct

only problem is if engine is out of a stolen car (n) if not its all good

Car was re-insured after the incident with engine so insurance co only have recent details of the vehicle they are covering. In terms of dvla I haven't shamefully! But will do that tomorrow hopefully they'll be cool just note it so I'm clear but to be honest if it was a bigger engine I would deal with co and dvla day after but it being same engine no biggy as it isn't a mod its a replacement or repair imo not altering how car performs in power wise :) yes yes yes companies don't see it like that but its a basic concept of how it is :)

Thanks guys!

last time i advised dvla they insisted on headed notepaper that the conversion was done in accordance with safe practice, basically an engineers report, due to all the hassle involved in getting a log book out of them its not a path i would follow again easily
then i did :eek:i changed the body on a chassis cab,i had to provide photographic evidence i hadnt altered the chassis and fill in lots of other paperwork that one took weeks and weeks

if engine same capacity keep quiet would be my advice too

your choice

Seems the wise idea to keep stumped I mean they only do a visual check of the engine for fluids and leaks correct me if I'm wrong:D

The only difference between engines is replacement doesn't wanna hold back:p

So I'll just walk in give them the keys I sit down with my hands between my lap rocking back and forth hoping for a pass:rolleyes:

Time will only tell!

Thanks for the replies ladies!;)
