hey chaps,

my garage still has my car, been in since Friday. Failed MOT on some stuff, including a bulge/buckle to the front drivers wheel.

They have done all other repairs for the MOT, except adjust headlamp and fix the wheel. Just spoke to them now, and its next job, they are going to try and repair the wheel enough to pass MOT.

question is this, as I had NO issues at all driving the car - no vibration, no wobbles etc, and generally the tyre remained inflated (had to top up a few time and fully inflate once, and after that remained ok). If the wheel is unrepairable, is there anywhere i can get a replacement used 17" claw cheaply?

as for the headlamp, I am assuming they can manually adjust to pass the mot? the motor is not moving the adjuster but is whirring away.

im feeling a bit frustrated now as this wheel thing has got me worried..i need a contingency plan!!

anyone got any spare 17" claw alloys available??

As for the lights, disconnect the motor and manually move the internal reflector to where you need it. Don't reconnect the motor or it will move again.

yeah i seen these claws, to be honest, they are in worse condition than what i have and for £280, are too much money. as for the lights, i have reconnected the motor a few days ago before i took it back into the garage, although its not managing to move anything.

im hoping the garage will ring back soon with good news, but i have a feeling this isnt going to be the case.

are there any club members with Claws available? i was sure i read a recent post where a guy had bought some Claws and had two spare?? just cant find the post now!!

I'm not sure you understood what I said.

Discconnect the motor, manually adjust the internal reflector and DO NOT reconnect the motor to the reflector.

Once you have aligned the internal reflector to a position that will allow it to pass the MOT, do not reconnect the motor because as soon as you turn on the ignition it will move the internal reflector and cause the car to fail the MOT.

Once it has passed the MOT you'll have time to source a new motor.

OK, car is done! I have no details, mot retest is tomorrow morning, but the wheels, brakes, headlights and tracking are done! They must have managed everything OK so that's good. I'll get more details tomorrow but I'm happy I don't need a new wheel!
