hi, im just about to mot a punto i brought cheep and repaired, has anyone any advice on anything i should check, common faults etc., before i get mot test.

You can check the obvious things, but you may still get tripped up on things that you may not have the equipment to check.

Do the basics, wipers/washers/lights, leave the rest to the test station. Negotiate the fee, garages are a bit quiet at the moment.

got a voucher for 40 quid mot so ok there. cheers

you can basicly check everything apart from emmisions..

check:-

• lights
• seat belts
• petrol cap (for rubber seal)
• wipers
• tyres
• brakes
• any corrosion 12" from a safety feature.. ie seat belt
• gators
• see if you can find any holes in exhaust if not it should wizz through the emmisions test

If ive missed something out someone can post other stuff in here

Add following to checklist:

Steering (excessive play)
Suspension (incl. condition of shockers and excessive play)
Wheel bearings (excessive play)
Mirrors (drivers side plus one other must be OK)
Reg plates condition
Screen washers working
Headlamp alignment
