what modifications can you do to your car and get away with by insurance?? except for sound system mods?

ye as in not declaring, i mean styling mods, i already have what is said in my sig but want that unique look about my car without bumping up my insurance.

best thing i can suggest then would be subtle differences, like colour coding things etc... could probably get away with a subtle kit also but i wouldnt want to risk it personally (or if the sporting is different get a replica/similar kit maybe?)

i am not fussed about the tinted windows as was a self application with film and can easily be removed. i would like to get some nice alloys on my car but i can't get a decent quote with them on as my current insurance Direct Line do not allow anyone under 19 to modify their cars apparently!!!!

that is with my dad as the main driver as well!

What do you expect?. You have just proved to them that your Dad is not the main driver by trying to fit alloys. Why would you Dad want to do that?. And yeah tints are scrote magnets as they think there will be something worth twoking in a tinted out car. You will find a lot of companies won't condone modifying until older ages as the stereo type for a young driver is bad enough without proving your part of the 'Modding Scene'.

Also I seriously wouldn't bother declaring alloys just put them on as long as there not something too extravagant / big you will get away with it especially if you decide to get some Fiat ones ;).

elephant are cheap and ok for mods, they allow you to declare 5 mods, so you could go, tints, bodykit, exhaust, alloysn lowerd. they dont cover the mods but let ya have em when you 17+

adrian flux are good for actually covering ur mods, and after u get past a certain no, it doesnt cost any extra for more lol.

alloys really should be declared, althou ask them if they would allow a factory upgrade, ie fiat ones.

Adrian Flux were amazing for my mods....quoted me HALF the price I was paying with another un-named company. (okies...it was tescos)

sports pedals,mesh grille,momo hanbrake handle

you wouldnt have to declare

tinted windows

You would :(

Even colour coding your handles is seen as a cosmetic modification
Actually you would have to declare pedals, steering wheel, gearknob and seats and everything.

Just don't expect the premium to go up unless its one of those get part for part replacements if they stolen because most likely, if your car gets stolen or cathes fire you wont get these interior parts replaced anyway.
Declare your alloys, a lot of companies will replace them if they are stolen on their own AND it doesn't change the premium much at all. Just experiment with an insurance premium online and select no modes first time round then declare them all next time round and see how much extra you pay.

Hey my Dad has Alloys and Tints on his Jag :p And when he was the "main Driver" of my Tipo he has Alloys, Dropped in 35mm, had side Skirts and a K&N. Insurers didn't mind :p

can easily be removed.

so after you've had a nasty accident, your unconsous/teetering on death, you are going to leap out of your stretcher before they ram you in the back of the ambulance, and you are going to remove all your undeclared mods

DECLARE them or feel MY wrath.

for things like manufacturers 'accesories' that were supplied with th vehicle from factory you don't have to declare, as they should know already (hence why they need reg to give a quote). after factory accesories from the manufacturer are a bit grey.
last time I phoned my insurance co my fiat alloys didn't cost me extra (apart from th £17.50 just for phoning them up to amend stuff), my ELX electrics pack didn't cost me anything, my boot light didn't, foglamps didn't, colour coded mirrors them um'd and arr'd about. then I mentioned that later 98 models sometimes had them as a dealer incentive, and the let me have them too

:yeahthat: Tinting film could be a challenge to remove with busted limbs etc.

Seriously, much to mine and my brokers suprise, my insurance company have blown me out on uprated brake pads & discs. 16vt Alloys declared at no extra cost as alloys dealer option on the Stilo :)

all my 5K worth of mods on the SeiT are declared, and i was pleasently surprised by the outcome.

Declare everything and you may be pleasently surprised yourself, if anything its peace of mind for yourself to declare the lot, i can drive with confidence knowing if anyone, or god forbid me, caused an accident with the SeiT its all covered

myself i wouldnt dream of not declaring and i cant abide these people driving around undeclared, its just madness and annoying

This sounds cool. Aint the insurance quite pricey anyway with elephant though mate??

I have changed over to Flux from Zurich because Flux have given me a much better deal All mods covered ..like fore like repair ..no claims fully protected ..full breakdown cover for £42  etc ..my youngest also change to flux after his old company [who he works for] gave him a renewal price and flux cut £180 off it  he haggled and said swift could beat it [as they could ] and flux matched it  I really must let him do mine next time  :bang:

If I put my lexus lights and chrome m3 mirrors back on my car and dont tell the insurance, and the police stop me could they do me for not declaring them
