So yeah I was on my way to an Army interview early this morning when the road was clear no traffic in front of me, one car up my arse behind of me. Coming down the hill which is a 30 road I was doing roughly 30-34mph to make up time and since it was a clear road (no residential buildings or built up place) and I noticed a cop walking on the pavement (PCSO Blue ribboned cap) on my side of the road didn't look like he was holding anything he was just walking through. When I left from under the bridge there was a cop van similer to this (Didn't get a good look, think it was cop)

(I think it had more windows going back on it though?)

parked on the right hand side of the road in what seemed to be a drive way as shown

Now I am not one for dangerous speed and I admit I was doing roughly 35mph. Could this possibly be a mobile speed camera? if it is any help the van was pointed front end out of where the circled area is as if it was reverse parked in to the drive.

Hey, This looks like a mobile unit, but it doesn't mean you have been caught tho. All you can do is carry on as normal, best of luck.

If it was parked front end out, then no it wouldnt have been, as cameras are fitted in the very back of the vans.

I guess the officer you saw was walking back or from the van that you saw parked up

edit: I would guess there was an incident in the area and they are looking for someone or something

Hey Gary I hope so, he was walking away from the van on the opposite side of the road to it (My side of road to the left)

I was just checking my GPS tracker on the car and it got my speed down for 34MPH by that location.

Is the limit 30 +10% + 1 or 2mph?

The limit is whatever is on the signs, but most places give some leeway, usually about 10%

As below ;)

BTW what tracker you got

No disrespect to you but does it really require a thread every time somebody see's the police when they were doing 34mph.
I mean sheesh what the worst that can happen. 3 points and a £60 fine or a day out at some $hit condescending course. It will do nothing significant to your insurance. Its about as bigger deal as Maradona's *****.... Thats tiny by the way.

It twas plastered all over the news papers and mags a few... god i feel old now.. like 10 years ago.
Ok a more recent one, Russel Brand was caught with his Chipolata out in public.

Mobile camera vans tend to have the camera pointing from the rear, or sides if they are going to be used on a bridge. The presence of a PCSO nearby suggests it was either coincidence or it was a mobile Police Station.

As has been said many times on here before, ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) guidelines state a lee-way of 10% + 2 mph. But, it depends on local Policing priorities. Before cameras, GMP would usually only prosecute those going at more than 45 in a 30 limit. Since then the limit that is enforced will have come down, but I don't really know to what.
