Mobile+SatNav+DigitalCompass

My mobile is something of an antique (2005) & I need to up-grade. I’m interested in units that include SatNav & digital compass – (say) an HTC with CoPilot. Ideally I want to use it for hiking as well as in-car use.

Comments invited from HTC (or alt) users with experience of this type of kit.

I guess there's not many using HTC units?

What about the alternatives? ... Nokia with Ovi Maps? etc? ?
