Didnt get photos, my phone was dead.(yeah it wasnt my day.) And i know andi, i just hope nothing comes of it, spoken to people with company cars and they say they have to take details incase the car becomes faulty due to it, but seeing as it was hardly a scratch they might not go into it. Lets just hope and see :)

fingers crossed you hear nothing of it, when i had an incident with the sei when i was 19/20 the insurance company tried to write it into my policy that they would analy rape me if i ever tried to insure through them again. for an incident that wasnt my fault that was nice

i changed insurers rather that renew btw

Long time no update, been abit inactive on the forum due to college/work etc, but a few updates

Painted the console from gearstick - handbreak gloss black with ashtray lid blue. Will get pics up tomorrow.

Still yet to find the reason for the rattle noise, assumed it was the heatshield next to manifold due to it being loose, but after taking it off the problem continues... Going to take it into a garage to get it up on the lift for them to try and figure it out - i just hope its not the gearbox...

Been sourcing new alloys, and also playing about with the idea of splitting my headlights, spraying them black inside and making angel eyes as the mk2b has no aftermarket ones like the mk2. :(

Gonna lower it, possible 35mil due to potholes at work. New alloys, gonna try for some dish and stretch ;) and other than that just a general tidy up of the scratches etc but if this rattle turns out to be something serious I may have to sell her... Tempted for a golf/civic... But thats a long way away :)

DONT get a civic..... ohh... everyone slags them off... and you will get CIVIC!!!!! everyone shouting top of their voice as they are always far to loud. Golf is a much better choice.

If you can get a solid EG, I'd go for it. DX spec and pop a B16 in there...sorted :D Golfs can be decent though, I quite like the style of the earlier ones. Only recently driven one though and a mk4 at that...would rather have the Stilo  That said, remapped diesel ftw

@andi_F I'd only be selling due to if my problem is the gearbox, as it's not worth the money spent on fixing it... And @muppet42 theres a solid EG for sale WITH a b16 dropped in it, registered as a 1.3 standard... ;) But yeah Brad I am alot more tempted for a golf, they can be made to look great. I'm gonna take the punto into a garage soon, fingers crossed it's something simple...

In update, wind deflectors are on the way, and i'm sourcing a mk4 astra splitter :D

gearboxes don't really rattle, they whine. if your box was rattling it would have already blown itself to smitherines internally.

it's much more likley to be either the exhaust catching off the sump, a belt tensioner or the underside heatshield

A Rattle on a MK2 can't be a huge number of things, but What I'd check would be the center exhaust rubber mount hitting the exhaust, just take the bloody thing off. Might take a little shaking of the exhaust for it to occur, I've had 2 puntos doing the same thing, my old red mk2 and my brothers GF's one.

Other than that for a "rattle" would have to be springs, or the front bearing in the gearbox, my red mk2 done that but sounded more like a grinding noise though IIRC.

Basically the problem is when I get the bite to start off there's a fast rattle noise coming from the front of the car, as soon as I get past 2nd gear it goes - and as soon as I dip the clutch in first it stops as well, I've checked under the car myself and there is no heatshield, must have been removed when exhaust was installed. I've taken the front manifold heatshield off as well and it's not that either... Going to take it into the garage so they can get it up on the lift to find the problem. FINGERS CROSSED LADS!
