As title have fuel at the rail but the injector are not working.
Think half my trouble is the last owner has had a fiddle with the wireing which dont help lol, like hard wiring the pump of the ignition.
And i the the live wire thats ment to come from the battery to the relay has been cut?but i still cant get a click from the relay if i connect it back up?
Can you guys point me in the right direction?
Also can you feel hear a click from the relay under the bonnet when the ignition is turned on?Mine dont seem to do that and i am sure my old uno used to?
Is there any specific earths i should be checking?
Also silly things like maf and coolent temp problems would not cause the injectors not to fire would they, also what about the crank sensor this dont have nothing to do with the injector does it just ignition?
Sorry for all the question but its been a long time since i have played with one of these!

Just had a bit of a read and some people point towards the coil,i will double check my wires tomorow but i think it something like x2red on the first conection closest to the header tank then x2 green next to that then a blank terminal then another connection, does this sound right?
Which wire is normally the culprit?
Also on my double greens on the coil there seems to be wire sort of wrapped together around both wires a bit back down the wire,is this normal?

I'm have the exact same problem. i have complete loom which i think is original. i have the engine turning over, spark and the fuel pump primes on ignition. But the injectors are none firing. i test all the sensor with ohms meter, and the wiring is basically the same as the wiring diagrams. the one thing i'm scratching my head on is, when turning over i'm getting lives on both sides of the injector connection (ie. the wire from fuel relay and the wire from the ecu both are live) is this correct or have i got a massive issue? could it be the fuel pressure is to low, i'm definetly get fuel to the rail might not be at 3 bar tho, i checking this in the morning and the only other thing i can think of is the fuel relay.

I have not got quite as far as you have as with checking the electrics, but i to am starting to think relay.
Does yours click when you turn your ignition on or try starting it?Mine dont?
Trouble with mine is the fuel pump has been wired straight off the ignition and the live from battery to relay has been cut!
Just been reading the manuel and it mentions that this relay can cut fuel in the event of engine failture, roll over,or a fuel line brecking.
Not to sure yet how it nows this or even if this is true but worth looking into.

Yes when I turn on the ignition it does click for 1 to 2 seconds. why on earth the guy before wired up the fuel like that? I'll keep you posted if i get my problems fixed. if the few things I check in the morning don't wont I'm going to be left there scratching my head again :(

lol i know how you feel,i will keep you posted to has how i get on also.
The more i read the manuel the more i think its this relay for me as i get no click.
Its strange tho that you have got power to the injectors but they are not firing, have you checked the green wire on your coil that i think go's to the fuel ecu and the relay?
I think it tells the ecu what the rpms are so it knows when to fire the injectors. Also its proberly worth checking the throttle position sensor is setup correct as this may make it harder to start i would of thought?
Its a nightmare lol :bang:

Well i have finaly got the injectors to start firing:slayer:.i had to continuity test all the wires on the fuel ecu and relay then trace all the wires from the relay to ignition switch and search for cut wires under the dash to wire my ignition switch/fuel relay in correctly. Was a nightmare!
I have just conneted up a spare fuel rail and injectors and fuel pressure regulator to the cars fuel lines and just let the fuel spray out into the air so that i am 100% sure they are working now as my car still wont start lol.
I am now going to change the 6 year old fuel tommorow and probely change the injectors for the spare set that i know spary and hope for the best as it fires on easy start.
The trouble i have is the car also has aparentally melted a piston, but has 10bar compression on 3 of the cylinders and 8.5 on the other. But that 8.5 is with me just holding the compression tester in the hole as the top of the thread for that cylinder has stripped and cant get the tester in.So really it should still start up i would of thought?
I really need to get the thing to start before i commit to welding it up as i have found some rather large holes and am in need of half a floor:eek:

Got the thing running think it was possibly something to do with the throttle postion sencer, you do a contiunity test between pin 8 and 2 with throttle shut and there should be continuity then you do a test between 8 and 3 with throttle wide open and there should be NO continuity where as mine stilL had continuity indicating it was broken.Starts straight up now altho lumpy when running due to the blown piston.Happy days:D

ah good news all round then. I got the beast started as well. I went over and over the electrics and for once it wasn't the electrics or a bad earth. it was purely the injectors were jammed. I tried a second Mk1 fuel rail I had and it was jammed as well. it was when I tried a Mk2 fuel rail and injectors 3 of the 4 fired, so I tapped the 4th one and it started to work. I took this approach and tapped with a small hammer the original Mk1 injectors and bang fired up on the button. happy days indeed :D

Interesting; perhaps this is why FIAT said (in the owner's handbook) to add some engine oil to the fuel tank of the Turbo and run the engine for a while before long periods of disuse. I never bothered and haven't had a problem yet (mine frequently sits for six months between runs).

Another thing i have noticed but dont always happen all the time is if you have the ignition on and give the horn a little beep you can sometimes hear the fuel pump prime again?
My old ut used to do the same thing lol God knows why this is as i have checked the wireing and dont know how they are connected.
Do you guys mk1 ut do this?
Turn ignition on you hear the pump prime leave it a min then give the horn a small beep and see if you hear it prime again.

My MK1 only primes if I pap the horn or switch on the fog lights  Think Jai had an issue where his primes when using the electric windows, but my old Uno don't have them :D.

It couldn't have been anything to do with the age of the petrol would it?

Can't petrol 'go off'?

I could well have been, the old petrol may have gummed up the injectors?
Half my trouble was some one had seriously messed with the wiring to the relay.
My fuel pump was hard wired straight of the ignition switch with no fuse through holes in the body work to the pump!
And then when i was trying to start it once i had sorted the relay i was giving it throttle to help start it as it has a melted piston, and where my throttle postion switch was broken i think it was stopping it from starting.

Silly Gravesend chavs

:(
lol the seller really was a top chap tbh.
It was just modded to the late 90's flavor:yuck:But saying that back then she would of been a looker rolling on the 3 spokes!
All on the mend now though:D

In which case I apologise to a person I have never met, for calling him a chav. :)
