I am fed up with those puny std speakers, and no breakers yard seems to have SX or GT type door cards, so a small sub in boot looks likely.

It'll be powered by an Alpine CDE-9828, with a 4v pre out.

So can someone reccomend me some kit, that could fit in that illusive space between speaker, and rear wheel arch (I use boot a lot inc dog use, so it needs to be out of the way).

Don't want to spend more than £100 if possible, as its only going to be there for some lo end punch (not for preaching my music to 1500 cruisers).

You can do yourself a fibreglass box to go over your rear wheel arch or if your not fibreglass handy then you can buy one, but expect to pay over £100 just for the box. If you want the address of a site that sells em then contact me (y)

I believe FLI Audio (a division of VIBE) are doing there powered 12" for £99.99 in halfords (up to 1st August.. That only fills up about 1/3 of the boot. They also do a 10" version, which is slightly smaller

Ive had the 12" version for a couple of weeks now and it seems very clear even when turned up. Listening to CD's like coldplay atm, and that sounds so much better. (It also works well with some House stuff, so good all rounder)

Also, I dont know if the Sub out of Mk2 punto will fit in easily?

If you are looking at a mk2 sub, I'm currently fitting one into a mk1. It fits perfectly, but the mounting holes aren't there, so you need to make a bracket to attach it to your shelf support. I'm using 2 aluminium plates drilled to mate the sub bracket to the support bolts. You then need to take power from the battery (which needs to be fused as close to the battery as possible) and you need an earth to the rear earth point. You also need a remote on attached to your head unit. The other leads connect to the left an right rear shelf speakers. If you want a wiring diagram I can draw one up?

thanks for the info, but as its active does that mean it HAS to be wired into parcel shelf speakers? AS I have a Alpine Stereo with two 4v preouts, and a sub out put, which I think I can control the volume on from headunit.

It has for wires for the speakers, But I would think that you could splice the wires together and fit phono plugs on the end for the sub out. But before you do, I would wire the power, earth and remote leads in, and then test it with the sub out, as it may be too quiet, (the sub is designed to take the high power sound from the rear speaker cabling and the sub out would be low power?)
