Technical Mk1 manifolds

Will a manifold from a Mk1 1242 8v engine fit the stud patterns of a mk1 1242 16v head?

I heard that some point in time they changed them all possibly 2000 onwards but wasn't too sure about Mk1 8v/16v compatability.

No, they're a completely different pattern as the cylinder heads are different.

Just spotted an 8v stainless manifold on ebay and thought my prayers had been answered haha

Yeah I noticed on ebay the 8v manifold didn't look like it fitted my 16v gaskets.

I'm sure the price of supersprint manifolds has gone up too!

Only one option remains...turbo!

I have an IHI turbo, 41mm inducer bore. Needs rebuild, still trying to find a car to put it on..

geez thats very cheap for a new turbo.

I'd more likely buy a secondhand gt15 from a vauxhall frontera or a Saab disel and get a rebuild kit. Oddly enough theres a place within walking distance pretty much Europe's distrubutor for turbo rebuild kits

I have already a few parts such as an Uno intercooler and assorted pipework.

My only concern is in the fuelling department. I'd like to use a 5th injector but everybody see's it as the lazy ass approach to fuelling.

Do you definately need an aftermarket or standalone ECU/Fuelling programme to work a 5th injector?

I can't see how it would know when to fuel on boost without one, unless you rigged up some kind of manifold vacuum switch that was setup to turn the 5th injector on when the manifold vacuum was high when on boost.
