Styling MK1 LED 3rd Brake Light?

The bulbs have gone in my 3rd brake light.

It's been a nightmare taking the unit out, as all the screws were rusty and broke when I tried undoing them.

So, in order to avoid having to do this crap again I've decided to replace the bulbs with LEDs.

Has anyone done this before? I have no idea what resistors to use, or even how to connect up the LEDs in such a small space.

Right, a guy from work who was trying to help me remove a couple of the rusted in screws has broken it.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement 3rd brake light to fit in my boot spoiler? The masking tape currently covering the hole looks abit silly.
