Styling mk1 fascia help needed

Having just got a mk1 sporting i want to remove the crappy tape player and replace it with a cd unit.
I am told you dont need a fascia adapter but cant get my head round it.
The radio thats fitted is sort of wedge shaped yet all the places ive tried say you only need an adaptor on the mk2 .

Im totally lost seems like round peg square hole to me!!!!!!!!! :bang:

yes you only need an adaptor on mk2 unless some idiot has done a right bodge job thing on your mk1? got any pics, if the stereo is just a rectangular shape(din) it should be fine.

if so you can buy any standard cd player and it will be a straight fit.

yep thats the one so it just pops out and the new one in then!!!!!!!
Must say this is the first punto i have owned and i love it already!

yep you just use an old wire coat hanger cut up, to put in the small holes in each corner of the stereo, push it in and it should click and pull it out, so simple and i hope i was a help, i do try
