General Mk1 Driver door replacement

Hi all,

I'm thinking about replacing my driver side door on my Punto mk1 60SX 5 door. The existing door is out of line and the door strut has a nasty dent in it (possibly where someone has tried to bend it back into place).

If I get a replacement door would it be reasonably easy to fit myself. Bearing in mind I'll need to swap of the lock (with the central locking mechanism) and the electric window (and mechanism)?

Or is it even worth the effort?

I'm in 2 minds, so any advice will be great.

Depends on the value of the car to yourself
Is the Door affecting the Way the car open and closes etc

If it does - replace it, a days agro = Happy Action of the door

Also - if the donor door has CL / EW - then i cant see why you'd need to change them

Changing the door is not hard to do but its not a one man job. Dont forget to reseal the plastic sheet/damp barrier inside the door before fitting the trim panel. Any gaps will cause the panel to get wet & rot.

A door will probably cost you 30-40 quid from a scrappy. Really is a 2 person job (I did one once using a windy-up axle stand to support the door, but it was a right pain). Don't forget to find a drift for the C pin that holds the check-strap in place.

The doors not causing me any probs and doesn't have any issues with opening/closing. It does let a bit of water in during heavy rain but nothing major.

Think I'll leave it for now but thanks for the advice everyone. Much appreciated
