Hey,

Just noticed I have not got the pipe that links the exhaust header to the airbox. The car has been like this ever since I've had it but i've just noticed now from looking at a picture on eBay.

I presume this is not a big issue?

My friend has told me that it's probably worth me blocking up the hole on the underneath of the airbox so that theres less hot air going in the engine from the exhaust headers? I also presume this is bull sh*t lol!

Any takers?

Cheers.

I know, but he seemed to think the less hot air the better?

If I find a replacement pipe then will it make my engine run better?

Willber.

you can remove it completly if you like, it is attached to the manifold by using 2 bolts

if you want to replace the pipe you can get the stuff for it from halfords, i think it about £2.50

the reason for the pipe is that on cold starts it will make the car run better until it warms up

Ok thanks for the info guys.

Any long term damage done to the engine caused by not having it and anything like that?

If you look at most of the photos of engines of cars on eBay most have not got that pipe! come to think of it it's missing on mine. I've seen the pipe for sale for £3 odd - you can buy a metre of that pipe for that price try a VW specialist.
