General Mint mark 1 turbo... HELP ME

Yes Trevor I do, because I bought it off of you. But I think you already knew that. So this is your world because you're the guy that told me about it. How are you? Thanks for the interior. As least you know it went to a good home.

Thanks for the compliments, she is good but not perfect. I have a long plan for the works involving getting her structurally solid which has started with cutting out and welding today. I need some advice on where to go for undersealing and I want thorough job. In the meantime I have worked on the interior and cleaned it throughout getting all new underfelt etc. When I get it back from the garage I'm waxoiling everything and will silicon dry seams, fit the interior and then get it done underneath. I have a digital dash and a set of freshly imported Croma Turbo i.e's that I'll have turned spraying the centres dark grey off course. The future holds a total engine out and rebuild although it doesn't really need it, and then a total body clean up and respray involving a new bonnet and passenger door. The final thing which I will start soon are new stock decals so that I can make the car look like new new. Mine's an '89 so has the facelifted graphics which I prefer. In Italy I had a German registered '88 with the older ones which aren't so good. That was a mint car too until I wrote it off in the centre of Torino. Shame. With the graphics I should be able to knock them up in no time as it's part of my profession and will probably offer them for sale if there are any other seriously sad people like me.

The idea is to get it to concourse condition and then garage it so I can start another project. As you probably read, I'm looking for a white antiskid G-plater too. Let me know if you see or know of one.

Cheers Trevor, speak soon......................Matteo

I wouldn't say it was my world but I probably do spend more time on here than I should! I'm glad the interior is making it back into a proper Turbo. pulled it out my old 45s which I did a light restore on before it went to a new home.

I reckon there could certainly be some interest in these graphics from the enthusiast community, I presume that Fiat don't sell them anymore. I did see this place that does Waxoyl treatments http://www.rustmaster.co.uk/index_35.htm no idea what they are like just came up in Google when I was searching. Bilthamber do loads of stuff if you can tackle it yourself http://www.bilthamber.com/.

A concourse Uno Mk1 would be superb. I would love to do something like that, maybe next year when time permits. There was a pretty much mint white mk1 up for sale on here a short while ago I think it was SuperUno who was selling, not sure if it was antiskid though. I seem to recall reading somewhere that only a tiny number of Antiskid models were sold in the UK, I think Robs is an Antiskid in Red if my memory is correct. Why particularly white and antiskid? Rarity? My fav car colour is Red so if I come across one I'll do you a swap (y)

Hello there again...

Yeah ur right mines a 1989 antiskid model, low owners and low miles i picked it up cheap ish but it had rust in the rear turret top's see the bottem pic's that was after some cutting out and you can see the whole rear panel that has now been welded in, and filled and seam sealed ill post some pics up of what i done later. looks like a new one...:D
The floor, sills, front inner wings are all mint and not a plate in sight (honest) but i have some rust on the bottem of the drivers door and a little bit coming on the outer wing but nothing major, the rest of the car is really good, i wanted a clean one as a project and i was amazed when i picked up mine for a cool £250, and i got a spare engine, loom, ecu, boost pipes, water hoses etc etc. matey needed it gone so he let me have it cheap because he wanted it to be restored not broke up for bits..
Ill post some more pics of mine when i have done the polishing, mines not on the road yet dont get me wrong it runs and drives but i only use it on weekends as a toy so im spending the time sorting every thing out before it finds it's way back to the road. Like i say got to fit a couple doors, wing and the do a bit of paint work and job done...
If i change the door then i will loose the stripes down the side so if you can make these then ill be interested for sure (if the price is right (y) ).
Im taking pics as i go along so i think i might do what dunc did and stick a load on the from start to finish as i go along...
Any way as for that anti skid white model you want, i was talking to someone the ther day and he reackons he has a g- reg white mk1 and a early press release b reg but im not sure if he's talking **** or the truth
Any way bud keep up the good work and ill post some more pics of how im getting on later next week, a few other people have beeen asking for them aswell so i will put some up soon heres a few but the other guys have seen them already...
cheers rob (y)

Wow, ANOTHER Uno turbo owner joins the forum! (y) Welcome Electricmice

Anti-skid model is the rarest model, though I wouldn't particularly want one myself. The anti-skid system is a very crude system (and complex - check the Haynes diagram of all the extra pipes!) that doesn't even work that well. Throw in the fact that parts are just as rare, if not impossible to find both second hand or new, and it makes keeping one on the road a nightmare.

For me, a mint standard mk1 turbo in black or red would be my dream. For now I have to stick with my red 45S unless anyone has a turbo going very cheap...

welcome to the forum, i must say, ur red mk1 looks extremly tidy in those pics! really really like it, looks mint!

the uno section does seem to be drawing in big crowds at the moment, and especially with the UT owners which is good! when i first joined here, i was prob only 1 of 3 people with uno turbos registered to the site lol!

:)

Thanks everybody for such kind words. It's strange cos these cars are a real enigma to most people. I have been asked I don't know how many times if I'd like to sell her by people literally stopping me in the street. People who also just feel the need to tell you they haven't seen one of these cars in years etc. It's good to find people who are interested and who know.

She isn't mint by a long shot but that is the focus. I still have plenty of work to do until she's where I want her. All in good time, and money. As you may have read I'm also after a white '89 antiskid as I'd like to restore 2 cars. Well in reality I'd like more but common sense has to kick in at some point.

I lived in Germany for 2 years and then Italy for the last 5 working for Fiat and Lancia in Torino, showing at what depth my sadness runs. At the time I had a Mk1 but sadly wrote her off quite nastily. I was seriously disappointed and lucky afterwards. After a while I started to look around for another one but had real trouble finding what I wanted. Did come across some interesting cars though including this one. This is a factory Coriasco special edition in special dark metallic blue with a white leather interior. Only in Italy. In hindsight I wish I'd bought it.

Found a digital dash aswell just chucked in the bottom of a box with 45000 miles on it .. bargin

Ill be posting some more pics tomoz of what it was like when i bought it home poor thing, then when im done polishing ill post some more :slayer: ...

Looking forward to seeing it. Has the red come through? It should do.

On no accounts dump the spares you have, they are far too valuable. I've got a whole load of parts too. If you can store stuff do.(y) We might be able to build one in the future. They all need saving.

GOOD news lad's ive been busy with some cutting compound and i have managed to get the colour back in the roof and the rear quarter panel got the rest to do tomoz, ive been polishing since half 5 this morning so im callin it a day now...
Ill wack up a pic of when i was half way through polishing the roof, the colour difference is totaly amazing, at last my uno is coming together nicely im well chuffed with it, i have owned around 50 good cars including rs turbos, gte gti gsi etc etc and my little uno is bar far the best car i have ever bought and im never selling it..
Here in the boxs of spares is a brand new turbo seat cover you just unclip the base and fit the new one on, so if you have a burnt seat or a worn bit on the side i have a brand new cover sat here waitng for offers... my seats are like new so i dont need it... (y)

Yes mate i have the bottem seat cover, u know the bit ur arse sits on. so simple to fit just unclip the bottom of the old seat take the cover off and fit this new one. Its brand new still in the fiat bag ill wack a pic up later.
Its for the mk1 uno turbo but it's not the black cloth with the 5 red lines like in the early unos, its the other one with the turbo ie badge on the back of the seat.
Really hard to explain but ill post a pic up.

I was reading through the service history last nite and i even have the original receipt of when the car was bought and all the warranty cards. And every mot since the day she was born????
I got hundreds of spares with it mate you just wouldnt belive the deal i got..

Did I read that right Alex????!!!!!! :p :D

That was put in to see if anyone was awake :p

Rob - sorry that the seat material is a different pattern - damn, so close! Unfortunately my offer's off the table... but I'm sure you will have someone else one day looking for that. Meanwhile I wonder if anyone anywhere in the world has new-old-stock of the earlier-style seat material. I really would pay well for it. ;)

Cheers,
-Alex

Hey, I got a mint interior here.

Parcel shelf, both front seats and the rear bench.

Not a mark on them.

Mk1's '89 late seats.

By the way Rob, if you are in Barnstaple, North Devon, gimme a shout if you need any parts.

I've got 2 uprated cams, spare engine, a set of 15s with good tyres on them, and I know a fair bit about Mk1 UTs!

I'm in combe martin, next time you come through, stop by mine. =)

By the way your car's done about the same mileage as mine so you do need to check the injector hoses. There's 5 behind the head above the manifold. You can see them without dismantling. 4 point down to the injectors and one's a central connector. If they're wet change them otherwise your car could go up in flames. I've seen it.

How much are these hoses ?

Do they also include the central connector.
