Networking is the way forward now. In the future thin client systems for home users with the operating system on your ISP's server.

Its gonna happen. Lower costs for home users and software used on the ISP server to cut piracy.

Cisco CCNA is a good one. (1st year student for me)

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt.

Thin client for home was great but if anything appened to the servers you lost a lot of work per server lost. Where as fat clients can continue working offline.

i always think of thin client systems as a step back to the times of mainframes, only this time they're distributed mainframes. it'll never catch on imo.

When it's working it works great.. I've worked on the worlds largest implementation of Citrix. Four server farms, sites in almost every country, over 10,000 users, one Hellcat managing it :slayer:

Since I last posted on this thread I am now in IT and have a couple of certs, you still have to start low down but my current employer will recognise ability and pay accordingly so onwards and upwards!

Well done H, you get a good sense of achievement when passing exams.

It's probably worth acquiring a few CBTs and practice questions prior to considering going on any course. It's how I passed my certification, and to be honest, I found it preferable to classroom studying. I might have a crack at a "paper" CCNA next.

But different things work for different people I guess.

It's rubbish, if you want to gain a decent qualifacation in IT go for a BTEC National Diploma and CISCO Networking will be in with this as well , so you learn basiclly everthing you need to know and you could go on to do a degree in computer science in you really wanted to!

Also if you start out on a BTEC Nat Dip you can earn £20,000 alone!

Even more if you set up your own computer repair shop!
