Metallic Grinding noise - HELP

As I was driving home today, my car (MK1 S reg Punto 60s) started making a metallic grinding noise, that appears to be coming from the front. It's doing it from the moment you pull off and is much worse in reverse.

I've not had a chance to Jack it up as yet, but I did have a look underneath and there's nothing hanging down or falling off that could cause the noise.

Is it possible it could be the wheel baring?

Any advise would be very welcome, as I don't know too much about cars to be honest.

I'd check your brake pads first.

I had the brake pads & disks changed in Feb/April time. The noise doesn't happen when you brake either

I'd also check brake pads and such. It's possible that the sliders have seized on the calliper and may be keeping the brakes stuck on and have worn through the new pads as a result.
