Hiya,

My alarm doesnt really seem to be doing much good really, i havent really favoured it since i got the car but today i actually tested it.

i armed the car then proceeded to break in, got into the car opened all the doors and bonnet then started the car no trouble.

the worst the alarm did was flash the indicators then it detected a sensor change:confused:

what the hell good is that, its ment to be a Thatcham 1 alarm! can i rip it out and have my standard one back?

Cheers,
Ryan

yes T14086(odd username??lol) is correct, the alarm wont become active for at least 30seconds.,

try leaving it overnight then jump out and suprise it in the mornig and smash the front window., then you'll know if it works!!!lol..,,

PS. you do know im kidding right??? lol.,.,

Not really, have you ever seen the film 'so many yesterdays & no tomorrows'?

Anyway upon arming 'bulldog' a tech/fitter can use the first 30secs-one minute to test all activation circuits/adjust ultrasonics.I have never had a faulty meta alarm not saying they dont go wrong mind you but I have ever had one.

there usually very reliable, ive fitted loads of them and also have one on me civic, never had any problems., as with most alarms, when they go wrong its usually due to the way it was installed rather than an actual alarm fault.,

True, bad fitting! Did you do the Meta insured fitting training thing, where you have to fit a alarm with the guy watching your every move?

no the guys i started out working for were certified laserline fitters when i started and then moved on to meta systems.,.,
ive also had to fit a lot of cobra systems but i wouldnt reccomend them to be honest.,.,

Never liked cobra,Laserline are good but bit of a carry on cutting new remotes etc:rolleyes:

Meta seemed to of taken over really although I dont fit many alarms these days compared to 8 odd years ago doing it all day long:sleep: ...paid bills though;)

yeah a lot of the new cars are comming with factory alarms these days., doin us out of business huh? there not always that good though.,

for instance the Rovers/MGs had a remote that operated the alarm and immobiliser but all you had to do was disconnect the alarm horn (they put it under the wiper tray) and get into the car, disconnect the ignition switch from the barrel and just keep turning it on and off!
it could take 10 seconds or sometimes 5minutes but worked every time.,.,

Alot of modern cars aint so easy to remove panels on without breaking them, more cars with CAN wiring & little space to mount sirens/modules....gone are te days of chucking in a central locking alarm in a escort in 45 mins :(
