MEGA HELP

hi guys hope someone out there can help me i got a bravo 16/16v was on the motorway today about 60mph when it went dead no power???????
got it towed home it given a "wirrel" sound when try to start now any ideas

Ooops! Dont try and start it anymore! Go and check if your cam belt is still on!

i don't know what a wirrel sounds like, but i'd chek the timing belt is still in one piece.

your right guy just had a look the belt is no more been making enquires few people say the car had a fil safe thing so it dont damage anything eles is this right if so how good is it??????????

he means its a 'safe' engine, that is to say that when the piston is at top dead centre and the valves are open at the same time, they dont come into contact.
i didnt think the 1.6 was a safe engine, best wait for Tom, he's the 1.6 guru lol

Very few engines with more than 2 valves per cyl are 'safe'. The 1.6 is not one of them.

cheers mate i saw a thing on here that says there unsafe so i think im fecked och well 1 of the injectors is gone anyway so cheaper with new engine mayby even bigger cheers again
