Hello! Long time reader, first time poster :0)

I set up my USB stick yesterday and it worked fine on my first drive with it in. Used the source button on the steering wheel to select media player and away I went. This morning though, media player is not being shown as a source. It scrolls through the FM options, then CD and then back to FM again. I've taken removed and replaced the USB stick but no luck. Any ideas? If I format the stick (and reload the music files) will I lose all my ecoDrive data?

If you plug in the usb stick and open up eco drive. Let it read in your data.

The you can format your stick and then open up eco drive and install the stuff to the stick again.

Have you tried selecting the media player from the menu on the steering wheel (press the phone button)?

Make sure the music is in a readable format by the car e.g mp3 works but aac (itunes downloads etc) it won't recognise

Many thanks for all the advise!

If I try to operate the media player by either voice control or via the phone button, the system says "please wait...building media library". My commute is only 20 minutes and it never finishes building the library in this time.

Is it normal that it does this every journey?

I have an 8GB USB stick and the first time I used it it only took a minute or so to build the library so I think that there might be a problem.

Try just putting a couple of MP3 tracks on the stick after reformatting it to FAT32 and see how that goes, if it still says the same then you have a number of options.

* Using the menu control on the head unit use the "reset to default" option.

* Pull the fuse for the radio located just above the parcel shelf on the passenger side to clear the flash memory and force a reset.

* Disconnect the battery, there is a quick release mechanism on one of the terminals, bearing in mind that you may need to reset the language option in the menu on the dash.

* Try a different USB stick.

* Take car to dealer.

I have experienced a similar issue. The solution seems to be to use adifferent stick for ecodrive. If you just want to use the media player try turning ecodrive off using the menu option on the car. Early days (have only had the car 4 days) but it seems to do the trick.

I've now bought a Scandisk Cruzer 8gb and that seems to be ok. I am wondering whether the speed of cheaper memory sticks is just not up to it. You only seem to get about 5 seconds while the media player finds the file after swittching on, and I don't think cheaper slower sticks are able to transfer data fast enough.
