MDF Parcel Shelf

I'm going to make a MDF parcel sehelf for my punto 55sx, what thickness should the MDF be? (i ahve some acoustic speaker carpet also) advice on what to do would be great! thanks

I'd say 1/2 inch thick minimum

I've got 1 1/2 inch Plywood in my room just laying there. Would this do the same job??

think mdf is better as its denser(no proof to back this up though!)pluys ply splinters more when cut

MDF is denser than ply, so it is better to use MDF, but as you have ply, it might be alright. Won't cost you anything then Ply is much easier to work with IMO too
